tanith the next time I visit my local Waitrose I will keep an eye out because they are selling a new make of pea soup. I have no idea if ham has been added or not- seeing the word pea was enough to send me running for my car.

Ahhh! now thick pea soup, that is a different story . I adore pea soup just wish you could still buy packet thick pea soup, they all seem to be pea and ham nowadays and I can't abide the taste of the ham.. I used to eat packet thick pea soup all the time but haven't been able to buy it for years likewise since the CJD scare you can't buy Oxtail soup in a packet any more, my mince and tatties hasn't tasted the same since.
I tried making pea soup myself but it wasn't the same at all.

I once made something like pease pudding by mistake. Incredibly thick split pea soup, when cold, could be sliced. blush

Pea omelette is one of my staples. Add a bit of cheese (feta is delish), chopped tomatoes or onions if you like. Yum yum, Piggy's bum! grin

Mmm!

I love mushy peas but always have a good few shakes of vinegar on them. Really tasty. In my homeland of Yorkshire they are served with individual pork pies and often with mint sauce on the side.

I await to see what happens re 'transit'. smile

Mushy pea omelette sounds fantastic *Riverwalk^. Must try that.

Not too much salt actually, having read the label. 1.6 g and we are allowed 6. It's all good. smile

Tinned peas! Yuk. Double yuk for tinned mushy peas.

trisher my American (born Scottish) SIL never leaves these shores without pease pudding.

Hate mushy peas, but will definitely try this with garden peas. Two of my favourite things to eat - cheese and peas! Thanks jing flowers

I'm not wild about peas which are too mushy, but the dried marrowfats are an essential accompaniment to Scottish steak pie and mashed potatoes ( we call it funeral purvey in these parts!)

Charleygirl Thu 11-Feb-16 14:53:17

Are mushy peas like Marmite- one either loves or hates. I love Marmite.

Greyduster Thu 11-Feb-16 14:41:44

If I ate that, jings, I'd have to put myself in purdah for a week until tricia's 'transit' had done its worst!

Charleygirl Thu 11-Feb-16 14:41:05

I am another who hates and loathes mushy peas.

TriciaF Thu 11-Feb-16 14:19:32

I love mushy peas too, but you can't get them here. We used to have something called pease pudding. When cold, cut in slices and fry - yum!
Full of fibre, good for the "transit".

I love mushy peas.

Every now and then I endeavour to use-up the contents of fridge, freezer and cupboads before buying any more food and ended up with a mushy pea omelette!

It was very tasty smile

grannylyn65 Thu 11-Feb-16 13:54:12

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Feb-16 13:31:58

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Feb-16 13:31:27

rosesarered Thu 11-Feb-16 13:12:14

Cheesy peas! As advertised on the Fast Show. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Feb-16 13:10:12

Take one tin of chipshop style mushy peas. Place in microwave saucepan. Microwave till it bubbles. Turn into bowl. Add a slice or two half fat cheese. Wait for cheese to melt. Eat.

14 grams protein. Very satisfying. And yummy.

One person needs a whole tin.
