Would you like a cup of tea?

Does he offer to make you one at any time? I think men, of all ages are so used to being asked by women if they want a drink/sandwich/cake etc they just say yes, I know my DH always says yes to tea/coffee no matter what time I ask him. No cake or biscuits as I am on a low carb diet so he has to go without or get those himself.

We both drink tea and coffee non stop when we are at home. Rarely with a biscuit and in fairness DH makes more than I do. So no complaints here.

DH does not drink a lot of tea, maybe three cups a day. I do not drink tea at all, do not like it and regard it as "cooking" what with all the faffing about with the tea bag etc. As a result on the few occasions I do make tea for him something always tends to go wrong. Last time I put two tea bags into the cup by mistake and he did wonder why it was so strong. He usually opts for a black coffee when I do the drinks as it is safer that way.

We're both tea monsters - without biscuits though. I will say yes to a cup even if I've just finished one. Fortunately DH is the hot beverage meister, so I'm spoilt. We were starting to have so many cuppas once he retired that I have replaced more than half of mine with fruit teas, which I'm really enjoying. No doubt research will soon be published proving they're bad for you.

Oh no - since DH has retired he always seems to be brewing up. Im not a big tea fan because i do like a biscuit with it and that's the path to badness so I usually say no, and in fairness I think half the time now he doesn't ask me.

Im a coffee fan and generally if i do have one during the day it will be a coffee but other than that I drink a lot of water, one coffee for breakfast and one after dinner and that will do me fine .

DH is a real tea Jenny and makes our first at 6am. He then grinds beans and brews fresh coffee at about 8am but that's the only coffee of the day. He probably puts the kettle on every hour if he's at home, however it's just a cup of tea in your hand, no biscuits or we would both be the size of a house. he's getting there anyway

DH makes a lovely cup of tea (for me) but he hates drinking it as he prefers coffee.

No biscuits as we're avoiding sugar like the plague.

I used to drink tea pretty much all the time, probably getting through 12 or more cups a day. But I've cut that right down over the last few years and now only have about 5. My bladder, I have been told, has shrunk and is no longer able to store as much as it used to, so I do try to limit my fluid intake. DH drinks fewer cups a day, probably 2 cups of tea and one or two cups of coffee. We only have biscuits with the morning cuppa otherwise I dread to think what size I'd be

We do have 3 set times for the wonderful liquid gold. In bed on waking up. 12.00, and 4.00. More when I was working it seems. .......no biscuits.

We had an American student teacher stay with us years ago. She was from Arkansas and we initiated her into the joys of a cuppa. She loved it and took teapot and tea home with her when she left.
The other students, all in their 40s, came to our house. One of the women warned her firmly not to drink the tea. "Remember they have been brought up drinking the stuff. We haven't. You don't know how it will affect you.".........,(a bit like heroin then.)

H and I have somehow fallen into an unwritten rule. Tea with breakfast, coffee elevens', coffee with lunch and tea at fourish. Only usually deviate from this if we have visitors. We have cake with afternoon tea. H has been known to eat half a packet of dark chocolate digestives for elevens'.

When in a crisis only tea hits the spot. (Although I have found brandy good too) but thinking back to moments of extreme joy or sorrow -after the birth of a baby, or waiting anxiously in the relatives' room during DH's transplant or sitting with my Dad as he took his last breaths, the offer of a cup of NHS tea was more than just a hot beverage, it encapsulated compassion and understanding.

Alea so true. The day DH died I almost drowned in tea until I'd had enough, said to hell with this and opened the champagne . DH would always say yes to a cuppa if I was making one but always got sidetracked and drank it when it was luke warm which used to infuriate me. On the other hand, I always leave a few cm of tea in the bottom of the cup/mug as I was brought up to believe it was the polite thing to do! This used to annoy him.....

When we are at home I make a drink about every hour. DH likes tea I like coffee - he only makes the evening one after dinner and sometimes the early morning green tea that we both have. Biscuits are a rarity as we both love them too much but SOMEONE I shan't say who started talking about biscuits last week provoked me and I replied that I like M & S Pistachio and yesterday a packet fell into my basket!

Those pesky packets of biscuits with a mind of their own!!
A couple of weeks ago Oreo cookies were half price.

We are not big tea drinkers at Chez Duster, but may have a cup in the afternoon occasionally, or, if DH offers me a hot drink late in the evening, I'll have a cup of redbush and he'll have horlicks. I couldn't drink it first thing in the morning - it makes me feel sick. I don't take milk in tea, so I rather enjoy it if it's been left to go cold - it's refreshing. I had an American friend whose wife used to put any left over tea from the pot into a large empty pickle jar, and when it was full, he would drink it! No milk, no sugar.

Mar might. I also leave an inch of tea. Not through politeness. I think it's a hangover from pre-tea bag times. I must have got a mouthful of tea leaves from that last inch. Feel squeamish thinking about it

Never drink the stuff as I hate it but drink far too much black coffee. I'm home alone all day and can probably have 6 during the day then when husband gets home we usually have another two during the evening. He drinks tea and will make me coffee if he does his tea. It does play havoc with my bladder though so if I'm going somewhere or in a meeting I'll probably not have more than half a cup with breakfast.

pensionPat I also leave an inch or two of tea, never thought about it, but you are right, probably in the past we have had a few tea leaves in our mouths and that's why we do it.

Biscuits are optional ( for me) but DH always has one.

Only use tea leaves at home, no horrid tea bags. OH only drinks tea first thing in the morning then switches to coffee which I hate. Do try not to buy biscuits (saying that I have just eaten 4 TUC biscuits as I found a packet on the shelf in the office, not what I would usually have with tea but better than nothing).
