Since I'll be having lunch out, I'll settle for garlic mushrooms on toast for my evening meal - plus an apple which I almost always have after a meal.

I bought a CB fish pie and it was delicious. I don't think they work out that expensive as the larger packs serve two, cost £7-8.

Look out for offers, Ocado have two packs for £10 so would be £2.50 per meal.

His meals are lovely annsixty but certainly expensive.
I think I would stock up with ready made chicken with 'extras' like sun dried tomatoes and olives or garlic and mushrooms that can go straight in the oven, and frozen veg and ready prepared veg that can be microwaved.
Waitrose (and others) do microwave casseroles too.

Not a suggestion I'm sorry to say but a query. Has anyone tried the Charlie Bingham range of ready meals? They seem quite expensive but have been told the risotto is good. I cannot stand for long just now and need to stock up with some ready meals. I have depleted the homemade meals from the freezer.

I'll be reaping the rewards of my recent batch-cooking .... chicken curry from the freezer served with chutney & lime pickle, thick yoghurt with a sprinkling of dried mint, and cauliflower 'rice'.

Well Wednesday is ladies golf morning (we can play any day but its our social day) so its tuna salad tonight - luckily DH loves it. No he cant cook the dinner but he does do all the housework on Wednesdays when I'm out - properly to pulls all the furniture out.

How about Penne and vodka sauce?

Penne alla vodka

Apparently the vodka emulsifies the passata and cream so it doesn't split so is an essential ingredient!

A quick Pasta dish is just sauté some chopped courgettes/ mushrooms/ peppers/ garlic or any combination , boil the pasta, drain, mix with the veg plus some creme fraiche or Philadelphia soft cheese to make a creamy sauce. Stir whilst warming gently, Serve , top with Parmesan. Whole thing takes about 15 - 20 mins.

Please inspire me with a sauce for penne pasta, please. I am tired of Chicken Arrabiata (husband's "signature" dish) grin

A fair while ago we had a long running thread about what we were having for dinner. I found it a good source of ideas and thought I'd try to resurrect it - it's for Tizliz too!!

Tonight's dinner doesn't really qualify for the name but I'm on the school run tonight in Derby, so fit for nothing when I get home apart from wine

We are having M&S gf fishcakes, gf oven chips and frozen peas! I'll do better tomorrow. blush
