Some sites say add salt to boiling water others say sugar, others both some say add nothing.
Opinions please, I haven't cooked fresh corn for years.

If you have picked it and cooked within the hour it will deliciously sweet just a tiny amount of salt.

Neither, if they need salt, there should be enough in the butter. It would never occur to me to add sugar.

Thanks for replies.
Nothing added except the butter after. They were delicious smile

I like them wrapped in foil and baked in the oven with a spot of butter. No salt or sugar needed though both/either can be added if people wish.

Covered and steamed in microwave for 4 mins (for 2 cobs),with tablespoon of water. Add nothing during steaming butter afterwards if desired.

I cook it in my steamer for about 10 mins. Nice without butter or salt to my taste.

Just butter for me. I boil corn on the cob in plain water, no salt or sugar added.
