Make it quite thick using some veg stock instead of water with a teaspoon of curry powder, flake very finely a tin of Tuna and mix through, put in a square tin or dish and refrigetate for at least 3 hours.
Cut into small squares dip in egg and breadcrumbs and deep fry until golden for a tasty party snack.

Mixed with a little white sauce and it make a perfect filler for cracks in the wall.

I love polenta. It's only tasteless if you just put a lump of it on a plate with nothing else mixed in.
Lots of herbs and olive oil, chopped olives, mushrooms, tomato sauce over it, can't be tasteless if you put chillies in it!

I had the most delicious lemon drizzle cake at a National Trust property recently and it was made with polenta instead of flour so as to be gluton free. I have bought some and am going to try it out, with different receipes.

I think polenta is similar to cous cous in that it will take on the flavours of what you add to it.

Thanks everyone. I have become quite enthusiastic about polenta with all these ideas.I will try some out tomorrow.

Lemon and polenta shortbread. Just substitute one Oz of polenta for one of flour.

I've twice bought it when I've been on holiday and realised I had no idea what to do with it confused. I also buy green tea when I'm on holiday and never drink it #mustbeaholidaything

these look good. If you make them Greenfinch please let me know how they turn out. I have half a pack of polenta sitting in my cupboard, I have no idea what to do with it.

Greenfinch Wed 07-Sept-16 21:34:49

Now that does look good hildajenniJ

Thanks Jane.I have some cooked and the rest of the packet which is of course raw.I will try corn bread.

If you have uncooked polenta how about this lovely cake.
Polenta is a great ingredient in cakes. My DD has made polenta cakes. Yummy.

janeainsworth Wed 07-Sept-16 21:28:29

Do you mean you have left over cooked or raw polenta Greenfinch?
If it's cooked I would bin it.
If it's raw, I've made corn bread with it. It's not really bread, more a semisweet cake that in the Southern US is served with nearly everything. Goes well with chilli con carne.
You can google a recipe.

Greenfinch Wed 07-Sept-16 21:09:51

Tonight I made up some polenta. It was bland and horrible and nobody liked it.Ihave been left with half of it and as I don't like waste I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to make it more tasty.
