ooh, I can never resist a rice pudding ana. It wouldn't have lasted a week in my house.

Hardly ever. Sunday lunch is the exception but only if the family are coming round. This weekend will be pineapple upside down cake. I'm not a pudding person - I would rather have a starter. We went out to lunch yesterday and DH had spotted dick and custard after a large main course. "You should have some of this" he said "it's good". Then he spent the whole afternoon grumbling about how stuffed and uncomfortable he felt.

Might have a piece of fruit, nectarines and melons are lovely at the moment. Or a yougart. DH loves his puds, so I tend to make them for him. Crumble with apple and blackberries, plums and steamed puds. He dosn't put on weight annoyingly.

Rarely, unless I buy something like a creme brulee or similar for after our Friday steak. But I sometimes have a crunchie or a flake from a multipack. They are smaller, I think/hope!

My dgc have a yogurt after one meal and fruit after the other two.

Haven't bothered for many years.I get yoghurts in for my GDs and I think there's an ancient tin of rice pudding in the cupboard which will probably outlast me!

Far too often here too , I just need something sweet after dinner . I agree kids do not need pudding every day better if they were given fruit.

"Why do schools offer a pudding after school dinners anyway"

Even 60 years ago we had pudding with school dinners, coconut cake and custard, semolina, jelly, etc.
Nowadays my dgd has a choice of fruit or yoghurt as well as the typical 'pudding'.

Far too often! smile - couldn't resist that.

If you count - as Nigel Slater puts it - "having a sweet little full stop" after a meal - then I have to confess to at least 4 times a week.

A slice of bread and jam after my sensible lunch, and a yoggie after my dinner.

I was quite shocked to realise that my 5 yr old DGD has it twice a day. She has it with her school dinner and then again with the childminder at tea time. It's only small and sometimes just a mini custard pot or something but even so... She's very active and healthy otherwise but I think that's too much and is conditioning her to expect pudding after every meal. Why do schools offer a pudding after school dinners anyway? Do kids need it? And I'm not against treats by the way, I have a very sweet tooth. But I have dessert occasionally (and love it when I do) not after every meal.
