Dates for Cooking

I have looked for blocks of dates for cooking but they don't seem to be about anymore.

I buy the dried dates from the Co-op. They come in a resealable pack. In fact I have two packets that need using up. I'll have to do some baking. ?

I get stoned dates. In fact I am going to buy some this week for my Christmas chutney, along with apricots and prunes - can't remember off hand what else.I make it every year.

It's SPROUTS ON COOKING DAY!

I was buying blocks of dates recently in Waitrose.

Mine went on last week -just to be sure

I buy chopped dates from Poundland. All their dried fruit for baking is great, and they've got some nice flavours e.g. cinnamon cranberries.

I still have a block in the cupboard: Whitworths. I think other supermarkets stock them too, or they might if you ask for them.

I use them for oaty date slices and a rich date cake that is good mountain food.

My sprouts are starting on a low slow simmer tonight

I get stoned dates says whitewave, yeah, cool man, right on ? ? ?! .

Gangy5, tesco have them on offer, 375gr £1.99 or pay an extra penny and get another bag ! we love a bargain. They are in a new packet so look closely. Happy baking

LOL - big cooking date is normally 25th December ;)
