NOT non-stick

thatbags I personally would not buy cast iron because it is so heavy.

I have to have stainless steel bases for my pans because I have an induction hob. I have a set of pans with ceramic non stick coatings. I find them very good. I use the small frying pan to fry my egg. It needs very little, or no oil, and the egg never sticks. They are quite light to handle, I can recommend them. They are made by Tower.

I like the circulon pans . I have five in sizes for all eventualities. I have a Le Creuset pancake pan which is wonderful but I need to weight lift before Shrove Tuesday to build up some muscle.

I have used a stone non-stick pan for many years. It finally fell to pieces a while ago and I now have a new one. It doesn't have the usual nonstick black layer but has all the good attributes. You can cook with virtually no oil.

I bought superb quality stainless steel pans (very heavy) about 40 years ago. They are still going strong.

The pan we use is cast iron we never wash it just oil it every now and then and wipe with a kitchen towel never had any sticky on food in all the years we have used it,it is quite heavy though but you get used to it in time think we have had it 30+ yrs.

For myself I wouldn't mind non-stick but MrBags likes to sear things at high heat and this always wrecks non-stick pans (he won't be told! ) so I'm looking for one that's indestructible.

I have a cast iron wok. An Indian friend recommended that and, like glamma's cast iron pan, it's great, both at low heat and high heat. You just don't have to want to move it much!

Maybe I can get myself one of your recommended non-stick ones and hide it from him!!

I must admit the ceramic ones don't look non-stick, so he might not notice...

bags - I have exactly that problem with Mr iam. I am genuinely considering his - hers fry pans so he can wreck his by using them on high heat, despite the instructions this is not necessary and will destroy the ceramic. In fact, having written this, next time I'm in TKMax I'll get him one large and one small for Mother's Day

Buy him a fajita pan made of hard anodized aluminium. It will reach the high temperature required for sizzling skirt steak (the fajo, for which it is designed) so I would guess it would work just as well for MrBags rather enthusiastic searing.

The only way you could destroy the pans I linked to is if you attacked them with a pick axe!

It isn't a coating, it's the actual material the pan is made of so there's nothing to peel off. They're like those hot rocks you get in restaurants.

I don't use non-stick either bags. I've resorted to His and Hers frying pans because MrMM also belongs to the searing club! I use a ceramic frying pan, but you have to use a much lower temperature than in a non-stick pan. If you obey the not-too-hot rule their non-stickability is as good as a non-stick pan. Could you threaten to kill him train him to be a little cautious heatwise?!

I have a circulon steak pan. It is non stick but does steak beautifully . I've had it years and the non stick has not lifted. In fact the only problem I've had is with the outside of a circulon pan which is supposed to be dish washer proof and has peeled off. I have a sauce pan,egg pan,mini wok ,three different sizes of frying pan, and steak pan all by circulon. And I'm very pernickety .
