I sometimes make cheesecake but it always turns out flat.
I think if you want a New York type you need to have a high-sided tin, or a normal cake tin with sides built up with baking parchment. And a very large amount of filling.
There are lots of recipes online.

Both Tesco and Sainsbury versions are really horrible.. Find a decent independent deli for something tastier and more original... They may even give you the recipe ?
