New potatoes............

I haven't bought any yet, but I get the impression that supermarket fruit and veg are sprayed and prewashed so obsessionally that some of the natural flavour is washed away.

If you can get hold of Norfolks they have a good flavour. Trouble with supermarkets is they don't provenance their loose new potatoes so, apart from Jerseys, you have no idea what you are buying. Try your local market - they quite often have two or three varieties.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that new potatoes are quite tasteless this year? I have tried several different varieties, bagged from the local supermarket, and loose from our local greengrocer, but all taste pretty insipid....and all are expensive. Even Jersey Royals aren't what they used to be. Can anyone recommend a variety that they consider enjoyable....Thanks smile
