Evening snack time!

Occasionally I treat myself to an oatcake and cheese as an evening snack. Other times I have a square or two of dark chocolate. Nothing too heavy or I'll sleep badly.

I rarely snack in the evening.
Since I did the 5:2 diet and got down to a sensible weight for my height I have not really felt the need for snacks.
It has changed my eating habits for the better.

Maw I haven’t had full cream milk for about 30 years, did you have to mention it?!
As children we used to fight over the ‘top of the milk’ from the bottle on our cereal or porridge.

I don't get the munchies but luckily we always have small crunchies available. grin

I shudder at the thought of cold milk on cereal.

My latest mistake has been to buy a packet of mixed nuts - I start nibbling them whilst cooking dinner and then don't feel hungry enough for dinner, silly me.

Later in the evening, though, a cup of milk is all I fancy.

Ooh yes!
Proper cornflakes with ice cold full fat milk <goes off into dream...>

I have to snack about 10 pm to take my medication.
Perfect excuse for either a slice of toast, a couple of crumpets or a small bowl of cereal.

Have I swapped my username with yours lemongrove?
I could have written that word for word (maybe I did confused )

I've just eaten toasted potato cakes, slathered in butter. And a cup of tea. blush I'm going to regret that, aren't I?

Jane10 Thu 02-Nov-17 22:03:36

lemongrove that's only when one dines at home. Cook does her best but can usually only manage to produce five courses.

Alima Thu 02-Nov-17 21:59:23

None left. (Tough).

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 21:54:27

That’s because you eat a five course dinner at 8pm Jane grin

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 21:53:19

I haven’t eaten any munchies for years, didn’t realise they were still going ( must get some.)

Jane10 Thu 02-Nov-17 21:53:19

Never fancy an evening snack (luckily!)

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 21:52:24

Haha! caught in the act Alima mmmn, they do look enticing.

Alima Thu 02-Nov-17 21:51:08

Evidence bag.

Alima Thu 02-Nov-17 21:48:19

Go on, tell me. How did you lot know then. Ok, so I did eat a grab-bag of Munchies all to myself tonight, No law against it.

Chewbacca Thu 02-Nov-17 21:36:07

I definitely get the munchies around this time lemon. But once I start on the chocolate biscuits, it's difficult to stop. One just doesn't cut it!

merlotgran Thu 02-Nov-17 21:32:26

I wish I hadn't read this now.

You've given me the munchies. grin

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 21:28:34

What do you like for a snack round about now (9.25) ?and onwards.
I vary wildly from a bit of cheese and a few crackers, a chocolate biscuit, a chopped banana or some nuts, to a packet of crisps.
Does a mug of milk with a drop of brandy in help you sleep?
It does me!
