for myself I usually do the coffee for my wife and I but my wife also do my coffee(instant colombian nescafe) from time to time and it is usually as I like it .... a few days ago she make me a cup of coffee which was awful ... very weak with plenty of milk.... I only drank half of it and told her that this cup of coffee was awful for some reason...... well since then she doesnt make my coffee anymore.... she said I upset her telling her that her coffee was awful ... I don't understand ( I am French and we have been married for over 30y )why I upset her telling the true about her coffee...she will think her coffee is good and make the same again and again and i will not like/drink it .....

Toast goes all soggy if buttered when it's hot. I prefer to butter it as I go, as it were.

I love cold butter and have told my OH many times. He still offers me the last of the ‘nice’ soft butter so I don’t have to have the solid new packet. He congratulates himself on being gallant but it make me want to scream.

I noticed on a recent newspaper survey that the number one complaint women have of their men is that they ‘don’t listen’.

I bought my late mum clear honey for years, especially such as Cretan honey from holidays. I didn't find out until she'd died that she only liked the thick stuff. If they'd just said the first time I bought it .....

I like cold toast with butter then cut into triangles. I call it "hotel toast"!

For as long as we had been buying pizzas my husband insisted that we had to get just cheese and tomato ones as he didn't like any other sort. Then we were visiting friends and they offered us pizza - but only had pepperoni ones. My husband was out of the room when this was mentioned and I said "Oh I don't think Mr R likes them". When he came back in this option was explained to him and he said that was fine as he always liked pepperoni pizzas!! And he has eaten them ever since. angry

Years ago my mums front room was full of brass.
She said that someone bought her a brass ornament back from their holiday, and it then became known that she 'collected brass', so everyone bought it for her.

My Dad used to spend ages spreading the butter and marmalade right out to every square centimetre of the toast, it'd be cold by the time he'd finished!

I love cold toast. I even put it in the freezer for half an hour to get really cold, and then spread it with real butter. Heaven xx

Even if in a cafe I always ask for my evenly browned toast & butter seperate. Lurpak, the full fat variety, is my fav. No watery spreads for me.

Hot toast with butter to be eaten without delay or alternatively left to get cold first then buttered. Nothing worse than hot buttered toast that has cooled.

I think I'm going to go and light my coal fire... grin

We still do that!
Toast on the toasting fork that my husband made with his own very fair hands.
We have an open fire lit every day at the moment, the toast is wonderful ,no other method can match.
Small pot of tea on the hearth so it keeps warm and you're in heaven.

I remember doing that with crumpets, by my grandad's fire! Yummy.

My son likes what I call warmed bread. He claims it's toast but as he doesn't like it to change colour, I really don't see the point of eating tepid bread. confused

Who remembers making toast on an open fire with a toasting fork, smothering it with butter and eating it straight away so the butter dribbled down your chin? Oh happy days!!!

lemongrove Sun 18-Feb-18 15:39:35

My toast always has to be allowed to go cold before buttering it, but the opposite for DH.
Love Anchor butter or Lurpak.

My brother-in-law once made scrambled eggs for my FIL. FIL ate them with relish and said they were the best he'd had in years.

BIL said 'But mum makes you scrambled eggs every Saturday for breakfast.' and FIL said 'Yes and I've been eating them every Saturday for 40 years even though I loath all that butter she puts in them.'

He hadn't had the heart to tell her so had manfully swallowed them down without complaint for all those years! grin

Hate soggy toast, crumpets and pikelets, so cold with lots of Lurpak. Also hate weak tea, I like it strong but milky, but lots of people seem to think that if I ask for strong tea then weak with just a touch of milk is what I mean.

grandMattie Sun 18-Feb-18 14:43:24

NanaK - same here. I once gently told him before my birthday that if he was thinking of getting me flowers, lillies' scent gave me a headache. He doesn't give any any more, bless him!

Saggi Sun 18-Feb-18 14:33:41

Hi Dannierae.... You and me are surly the only two people in the world who like cold toast .... quite burned ...lots of butter... yum yum. My OH says I'm mad to eat it like that. I think it stems from my mum never wasting anything so if the toast burnt it wasn't thrown away but 'scraped' over the bin, then handed to me ...the youngest of six!! Great days!!

Suebcrafty Sun 18-Feb-18 14:18:19

I had been buying Neapolitan ice cream for years and happened to mention to my husband,we’ve been married 41 years, that I didn’t like chocolate ice cream so had given him my share when he replied” I don’t like chocolate ice cream either” so why had I been buying it?

Gaggi3 Sun 18-Feb-18 14:16:29

I wave the toast about to cool it, Kim19, as I don’t like the butter sunk in.

Rosieroe Sun 18-Feb-18 14:14:58

Definitely not buttered when hot as it’s horrible when soggy. Not cold either as it’s like cardboard and horrible.

Left resting in the toaster for a minute after it pops up so that it is just cool enough for the butter to stay on top and the bread to stay crispy. Perfect!

gmelon Sun 18-Feb-18 14:03:14

Fruit loaf buttered when hot then left to go cold. Chewy, wonderful delight.

Not Warburtons as I don't like the orange peel in it.

nanaK54 Sun 18-Feb-18 14:01:48

Well I'm guilty here! My eldest son (for reasons best known to him) thinks that my favourite cut flowers are lilies, when in fact I can't bear the smell, I can't tell him, he has been buying me lilies for years!
