I was really disappointed when Force wheatflakes was discontinued and there’s nothing new that’s comparable.

Royal Scot biscuits, delicious!

pollyperkins Tue 27-Feb-18 14:56:13

Digging Doris I buy blancmange powders (for trifle) from Waitrose. My only complaint is that you get several flavours in a packet (strawberry raspberry vanilla and chocolate I think ) and as I only make trifle occasionally some of them go out of date, esp the chocolate flavour.

Vanilla flavour Angel Delight, ideal topping for trifles for those of us who really do not like cold custard. I used it as a topping on othe rhoeme made desserts as well.

Legs55 It was Symington's Table Cream - remember it well!

cheneslieges132 Tue 27-Feb-18 14:47:45

Oh how I miss Rice Cremola - and the very best biscuits were Royal Scot - still miss these so much.

Greengage Tue 27-Feb-18 14:43:39

Hattiehelga I absolutely loved Symington's Maple and Walnut Table Cream. I can even taste it, just thinking of it!! I was devastated when they stopped making it.

Rapunzel100 Tue 27-Feb-18 14:35:40

Scribbles - you beat me to it! I must have been posting at exactly the same time. I used to love Cabana bars (with cherry and coconut) and those three-tiered bars of chocolate - dark, milk and white.

Scribbles Tue 27-Feb-18 14:33:47

California. GRRRR!! That was supposed to be calorific.

NewgranGill Tue 27-Feb-18 14:33:27

We still have liver and kidney - liver done the Venitian way without flour but with lemon and we have devilled kidney, but I miss Van Smirren crab spread(?), used to love that and I also liked cremola drink, mum used to buy them from the same shop when she was in that part of town

Rapunzel100 Tue 27-Feb-18 14:32:30

ReadyMeal - I think you're referring to Nibbitts. And yes, they were gorgeous!

Scribbles Tue 27-Feb-18 14:32:20

I loved Potato Puffs, especially the tomato flavoured ones.
ReadyMeals, was the other product you mentioned Nibbits? I haven't seen those since the 1960s; much, much nicer than Quavers and all the other crunchy, California things.

Frannytoo Tue 27-Feb-18 14:26:52

Nairn's small oat biscuits. So good for aperitif nibbles.

Midge Tue 27-Feb-18 14:23:28

Fry's chocolate spread in a waxed cardboard tub. Yum

Cheesey Tue 27-Feb-18 14:21:15

Kraft Cheddar spread. Already mentioned by hildajennij I think. A really intense cheese flavour. Other cheese spreads do not compare.

hulahoop Tue 27-Feb-18 14:21:11

Tom piper tinned casserole
Proper ham burgers
Hapenny Spanish the ones you could suck to a sharp point
Cadbury special recipe chocolate bars
Bar milk tray with different shapes on top

The thrill of buying a Lucky Bag and discovering what was inside smile A shop near us sold loose biscuits from a big tub, also loose crisps and butter that was patted into shape on a slab.

jollyg Tue 27-Feb-18 14:16:45

Cremola foam

sodapop Tue 27-Feb-18 14:15:30

I mentioned this on another thread, M &S used to do tins of minced pork with Apple delicious. I remember Kunzle cakes as well, a real treat.
Aniseed balls and Cadbury's misshapes ..

Legs55 Tue 27-Feb-18 14:09:17

DM used to make table cream, can't remember manufacturer. My little local shop sells blancmange powder,

I love liver & onions, Don't miss the kidney on a pork chop as I don't like kidney except in steak & kidney pudding, DH always had mine when we had chops.

quizqueen Tue 27-Feb-18 14:05:50

rice cakes with a forest fruits flavour-don't like any of the other choices

gran5up Tue 27-Feb-18 13:59:44

GabriellaG, in London we could get bricks of Lyons ice cream in stripes, the green one was, "Neapolitan", the choc,"Chocopolitan". Oh that green one-tasted almondy, pistachio perhaps??
Also Peek Freans Araby Sandwich biscuits, date puree between layers of Garibaldi-biscuit type dough, they had a pic of a man riding a camel stamped onto them. Lovely!
Most missed of all, Cremola's caramel dessert, like custard or blancmange powder but caramel flavoured, so good. Mum would use the powder in a cake to replace part of the flour-gorgeous!

blueberry1 Tue 27-Feb-18 13:52:59

Going back to my schooldays,we used to buy Spree in sachets. It was a concentrated fruit drink to be mixed with water but we drank it straight from the sachet and it was divine!
Also miss Kunzle showboat cakes, which my gran used to treat us to.And Sweetheart dessert, which came in a tin and you mixed it with milk.It had fruit pieces in and was yummy.Oh,and Bluebird Toffee and Co-op Raisin Cordial and Woolworths luncheon meat!

KatyK Tue 27-Feb-18 13:42:59

So many memories. I particularly remember Kunzel cakes and potato puffs as mentioned above. I used to love Oxo crisps and when I could afford them, Lucky Numbers chocolates.

ReadyMeals Tue 27-Feb-18 13:18:41

Daisynance123 Tue 27-Feb-18 13:15:59
