I was really disappointed when Force wheatflakes was discontinued and there’s nothing new that’s comparable.

For all those of you who crave Cremola Foam you may like to know that it is still available - although under a new name.

I gave all my children a tin for Christmas last year and it evoked a lot of nostalgia!

Now where can I get Kunzle cakes from?

Does anyone remember Neapolitan having pale green icecream, i think it may have been pistascio flavoured.Morrisons have always done a block of plain vanilla icecream. We always keep one in the freezer as it doesnt take up so much room as a tub.

Yesterday I asked, and they do have the wafers too. They were in the home baking section. I wouldn't have thought of looking there!

Anyway, I now have both, ready for the grandchildren to try -if there is any left by the time they next visit grin

I miss being able to buy bricks of ice-cream.

I had the same thought a while back, as I would love to give the dgc a 'wafer' occasionally, but couldn't find any.. However, it must be making a comeback, because i spotted blocks (neapolitan) in Tesco a couple of weeks ago. Now all I need to do is find the wafers to put it in - preferably the chocolate version smile

I used to live butterscotch angel delight with a chocolate flake stuck in the top. Yummy!

Puffed Wheat, yes! Fru-Grains, St Ivel Lactic Cheese, Vita-Wheat and Macvita, like Ryvita but nicer; Thin Wine and Small Rich Tea biscuits. Can you still get junket? I didn't particularly like it though.

I keep frozen runner beans in my freezer. Purchased from Sainsbury's, also think that Iceland do them

Vanilla Instant whip/Angel Delight. Used instead of cold custard (which I loathe) on trifles and similar cold deserts.

Cremola and Heinz vegetable salad bring back such memories. Does anyone remember Bengers Food? Mother practically force fed us with it whenever we were ill. I didn’t mind, I loved it.

McVities chocolate Vienna biscuits and Dorset creams☺

Luckygirl Sat 07-Apr-18 18:19:53

Sterilized milk - I don't like milk, but loved a glass of "sterra."

rockgran Sat 07-Apr-18 18:17:40

Butterscotch Instant Whip. We used to put dried coconut in it - very decadent.

Menopaws Sat 07-Apr-18 17:40:35

Chocolate lovelies, bloody gorgeous

DanniRae Sat 07-Apr-18 17:04:39

Another one here who loved Heinz vegetable salad in a tin!
Does anyone remember a cracker type biscuit called something like Saltines? I think they came in a sheet and you snapped them apart.

Poppyred Sat 07-Apr-18 15:15:13

Tomato flavoured crisps

lemongrove Sat 07-Apr-18 14:58:17

Butchers also sold fab dripping ( mouth waters at the thought) and black pudding ( which does seem to have made a comeback.)

What a great thread this is, brings back so many memories, and is an antidote to the many gloomy threads we have had on GN in the last year.
Never had cremola though, or heard of Barmouth biscuits, and how do you all come to have such good memories?grin
I loved the veg salad in a tin as a child, and also the tinned cream, Nestles?I even loved Carnation evap.
We had a breakfast called fru-logs which was bought at a health food shop ( considered a bit weird in those days) they were malty and yummy with hot milk.
Butchers used to sell delicious potted meat from tubs in their shop, long gone I expect ( that was in Yorkshire.)

barbarad Sat 07-Apr-18 12:59:53

Oooo I had forgotten about acid drop spangles! They were so delicious. My mouth is watering at the memory.

barbarad Sat 07-Apr-18 12:25:55

Lincoln biscuits - yum. I agree with others about the heinz salad on a tin. I also remember, for a time, you could get Heinz tomato ketchup with onion. It was delicious but must not have been very popular as suddenly it was gone.

Marydoll Sat 07-Apr-18 11:27:02

Kunzle cups for me too. The ones with the coconut filling, like Bounty Bars. I still hanker after them! It was a Sunday treat after church.
You can still get cream cookies in our local bakers, Alexa.

Green and Black's dark chocolate with sour cherries disappeared quite suddenly. Neither of us has a sweet tooth but we both loved it. Most confectionary is just too sweet.

Charleygirl Sat 07-Apr-18 11:03:01

I have not heard of half of the items mentioned- maybe I led a sheltered life. I miss nothing.

sarahellenwhitney Sat 07-Apr-18 10:57:49

Definitely Heinz Vegetable Salad in a tin and those yummy Lyons individual apple or strawberry pies. Where is Lyons these days?
The small six in a box fruit tarts available now are nothing like.

Grumppa it's gone out of fashion - haven't you heard? Everyone's got gluten intolerance now! smile
