John Lewis have an easy to use comparison thingy online to help you whittle things down.

Like others, gas hob, electric double oven every time.

What you see in the shops is a small sample of what's available online. It's useful to see the models in the shops to get a feel for the finish and quality for each brand but often there are more colour options, different facilities etc which you don't know about unless you search online too.

Thanks for the advice - look in shops first then ApplianceOnline.
We're off tomorrow, might not have internet straight away.

Good choice. Excellent advice on phone. Exemplary delivery service.
You obviously agree kitty!

Sorry, didn't spot you'd suggested Appliances Online, mcem!

I suggest you go to the shoes to look and then come home and look at the prices on Appliances Online.

Always gas hob and electric double oven with fan.
Can't do any harm to browse the internet, make a shortlist and then go and look.
(I've been very happy with the service of ao.)

I have a Cannon Westminster with an eye level grill and I love it. It has two shelves and a space under the oven for baking tins etc.

Even with a gas hob I would always choose a fan electric oven, so no help, sorry!

We're moving into a 'new' house and will replace the exsting
electric oven. I'm more used to a gas oven, which is possible because the hotplate is gas.
I'd like some recommendations, taking into account the size ie standardard 30 by 36 by 25 inches.
My only definite requirement is that it should have 2 shelves.
Husband wants me to choose online, but I want to see it first before choosing.
