What would you cook and what entertainment would you have.

I’d have
Melon slices with half a cherry on top for starters.
Main meal: Jam sandwiches
Desert: Banana custard.
(I hate cooking but like company ?)

Entertainment: Dog agility.

What about you?

No PaddyAnne regrettably he is VERY exoensive, but if you ask nicely I will come and try to play my pipes for you

MissAdventure Sat 12-Jan-19 18:04:43

Count me in, knspol
I'm no cook, but I'm a very enthusiastic eater.

knspol Sat 12-Jan-19 17:59:53

Can't cook but seriously considering visiting quite a few of you now, most of these menus sound delicious.

Not watched CDWM since the episode where a woman brought her pet snake out for the other guests to admire. As it slithered across the table towards one petrified lady, it let out a long stream of poo, all across the tablecloth. Turned my stomach and I've never watched it since. envy not envy

I agree Noname a nice table setting really sets off the meal with all the right cutlery and wine glasses of course. We would have
Egg & bacon salad with quail eggs as a starter
Duck breast with peppercorn sauce and veg
Cheese board
Raspberry creme brulee.
Not really a fan of entertainment just good conversation.

* What, not that blush

GabriellaG54 Sat 12-Jan-19 17:15:02

Suegalway1
It all looks scrumptious but that exactly is in the non-fish fish pie and what is Seitan steak.
The pudding looks too beautiful to eat. Yummy. ?

Noname Sat 12-Jan-19 17:05:04

I love to cook but can’t decide on a menu just at the moment but what I would spend time on is the table setting; I love a beautiful table with lovely napkins, candles, flowers and sparkling cutlery!
(We went to a friends for a meal once and the cutlery was in a pile in the centre of the table! Hence I’ve never forgotten it!) ?

Suegalway1 Sat 12-Jan-19 16:53:32

All cooked from scratch, of course.

Suegalway1 Sat 12-Jan-19 16:51:40

I'd cook a totally vegan menu and serve it with vegan wine or beer.

Fishless fish pie for starter
Seitan steak and chips with peppercorn sauce for main
Pink Dragon Fruit Layer Cake for pudding

Delicious!

I have watched the programme a few times and once realised a contestant was a childhood friend. Don't think they won! It as a Newcastle based programme.

My starts would be

Mezze

Chicken Sofrito

Home made baklava

HurdyGurdy Sat 12-Jan-19 15:53:28

This is the blog of someone who went on CDWM in 2014. It's an interesting read

bluemozza.wordpress.com/2014/03/27/my-come-dine-with-me-adventure-part-one-pre-broadcasting/

for me - way too much effort for just £1,000 !!

GabriellaG54 Sat 12-Jan-19 15:51:15

The entertainment would be exactly like the programme I'll Get This

annsixty Sat 12-Jan-19 15:50:32

How lovely to be reminded of rum babas.
I think they were a 70's favourite, I loved them .
I remember buying them though, not making them,

HurdyGurdy Sat 12-Jan-19 15:50:10

Well, no offence intended to any of the other contestants, but none of you have matched up to OhMother's evening for me!

It sounds blissful - ESPECIALLY the entertainment. grin

LadyGracie Sat 12-Jan-19 15:47:05

I’d enjoy yours Ohmother

EthelJ Sat 12-Jan-19 15:42:05

I love the sound of Paddyann's menu.
Reading it made me quite hungry!

GabriellaG54 Sat 12-Jan-19 15:33:40

Antipasto

*

Vegetarian Wellington with wilted

Hotel Chocolat selection

Au revoir

I have scored you 9 for your menu Grandmarnia grin
It would have been a 10 if you swapped beef for chicken.

Grandmarnia Sat 12-Jan-19 14:46:11

@day6 you firstly joined in with the spirit of the OP's post and then seem to be swayed by @mabon - this is a light hearted thread as per the OP's menu suggestion.

The title obviously intrigued you @mabon else you would not have opened the thread to make a negative comment, but hey it has probably made you happy!

I have loved reading others menus and the Scots menu by @paddyann sounds lovely for upcoming Burns Night smile

I would prepare a seasonal soup in my wonderful soup maker (present to myself) with chilli - very warming

Roast Beef with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roast onions with steamed carrots, steamed cabbage and boiled potatoes served with horseradish sauce, and gravy.

Dessert would be bannoffee pie.

Coffee and chocolates

notanan2 Sat 12-Jan-19 14:29:20

Do they tell you if your guests have restrictions on what they eat??

IMO they deliberately match people with opposing tastes and opinions, but they do tell the hosts about dietary requirements

Day6 Sat 12-Jan-19 14:26:50

I remember the days when CDWM was more of a cookery programme and focused on themenus, food and kitchen.

Now it seems to be about how whacky/and/or difficult the contestants are. It's obvious the spats between them are deliberately engineered.

I hate what is happening to TV. It has been so dumbed down and filled to the nth degree with programmes featuring Z list egotistical loudmouths. Even the morning chat shows are completely banal.

Thank goodness for catch up. There is a whole swathe of personalities (ahem) and television programmes which annoy us intensely. I refuse to watch such trite rubbish.

Why have viewers become so easily pleased by the abysmal stuff being churned out?

Daddima Sat 12-Jan-19 14:15:55

And also, I’ve noticed lots of them have the same clear plastic mixing bowls ( mine were 99p from Morrison’s), and Le Creuset casseroles ( though maybe a serious cook would have these anyway)

mabon1 Sat 12-Jan-19 14:15:44

This question is a joke of course. Who on earth would want to replicate that dreadful programme? Only saw it once and switched off never watched it again!!!

Charleygirl5 Sat 12-Jan-19 14:14:36

If there is such a palaver with the cameramen and I had little time to cook it would be a ready meal from M&S. Otherwise I could take out of the freezer something I had previously cooked. There would be insufficient for 4 guests but there would be somebody who did not fancy my bolognese.

I would not bother with a starter and we would have biscuits and cheese. Entertainment? A conversation I think.

I like dining alone!
