Are you stocking up at home in case Brexit means shortages?

How much money wise and amount?

What are you stocking up on?

PECS Sun 27-Jan-19 09:07:15

There is a "fear" that post Brexit some items may be difficuly to get. This is not based on hysterical housewives but on comments from Brexit politicians when asked what the scenario might be as there is yet to be an agreement on leaving EU. I have heard and read comments implying thatcimports of some items will be delayed. Nobody has been specific though.

No not stockpiling anything. Insane.

Goodness me! You may well be inundated with grandads offering copious bottles of wine and company if your post gets repeated ad infinitum on social media. grin winewinewine????????

Urmstongran
Mea culpa blush
I shouldn't have answered.

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 23:10:44

There is a post from a stockpiler making that reference. I'll post it when I look for it.

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 23:06:22

Rosina
You have said everything that needs to be said in support of Britain.
I couldn't agree more. smile

Bradfordlass oh, yes please!!
We do have some Kiwi relatives but they now live in Australia.

Jalima1108 Sat 26-Jan-19 22:37:52

I don't think any posters are likening Brexit to WW3 (no-one knows what that would be like anyway) Gabriella.

There are very few on here who say they are stockpiling and it seems to be the Mumsnetters who are doing just that.

I don't understand your post because it's obvious that we Gransnetters are a resourceful lot.

Jalima1108 Sat 26-Jan-19 22:28:38

Cherrytree - we'll know where to go for dinner, then smile
(Don't think DIL and DS are stocking up though)

Urmstongran Sat 26-Jan-19 22:24:38

Lily65 I think your remarks are mean spirited. And definitely off thread. Please desist. It’s embarrassing for the rest of us TBH.

I’m beginning to think we ought to have a thread for any of you GN’s bearing (perceived) grudges of any kind to have their very own ‘gloves off’ site so they can all have a pop at each other - and the rest of us can then swerve it. ?

PECS Sat 26-Jan-19 22:16:35

Oranges! they were very exotic at one point.

Telly Sat 26-Jan-19 22:04:57

The forces are stockpiling food.
The government stockpiling meds
Supermarkets are stockpiling
I wonder why?

merlotgran Sat 26-Jan-19 21:56:27

Oh, that Mumsnet thread is so funny. grin

BradfordLass72 Sat 26-Jan-19 21:37:15

It seems none of you know any LDS (Mormons). Part of my extended family are Mormon and stocking up is part of church guidelines, not for Brexit but wherever you live in the world.

providentliving.lds.org/food-storage/what-is-food-storage?lang=eng

cupcake cafe (herbal or decaf only) wine oops, no. grin

Cherrytree59 Sat 26-Jan-19 21:06:05

Looks like the MNers are stocking up.

There has been a few threads recently
re Brexit and stockpiling.

Also a section called
Preppers who seem to be getting ready for Armageddon. shock

There is an interesting MN thread at the moment (sorry cant do links)
DH and his Brexit cupboard

I couldn’t care less what I eat or drink, really I think it ll be good for this greedy nation to realise what it’s like to have to scrabble a bit and learn to be a bit creative
It’s so utterly ridiculous to have a room of food all neatly dated and piled up So sorry Endre I don’t mean to be rude but... It makes me think of all those silly people that went up a mountain expecting the end of the world
I haven’t got one person who I know who is stockpiling or even doing anything different except feeling mad and fed up with the whole situation
Calm down Endre the world won’t end and if it did not a lot we could do to stop it

BradfordLass72 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:58:45

I would like to offer a safe haven from Brexit to anyone who would like to use my spare room.

I'm a good, plain cook.
The very swish French-designed spare bed is extremely comfy and this is a smoke and pet-free house (though we do occasionally get a Praying Mantis looking for a nursery spot).

I could be persuaded to accept the occasional bottle of wine in lieu of rent. We'll share it, of course. grin

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:44:26

I hope you have all that info filed away for future reference Lily65
Daft blighter.
The interview is over.

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:41:51

My ex lives in Monaco and Ireland. He wasn't here at Christmas and the buddy was with his family. I didn't start running until Jan 4th.

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:39:25

My take (and I might be completely wrong) is that people stockpile so that if the rest of us go hungry in a 'worst case scenario', they can gloat and post comments here listing all the delicious meals they've knock up every day. They'll imagine we non-hoarders salivating and hallucinating and losing several stones weight-wise.
Well...dream on, is all I can say. grin

Lily65 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:38:50

so at Christmas you had the ex , the younger model and the buddy?

mmmm nice times.

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:32:19

Two different people. OH works.

glammagran Sat 26-Jan-19 20:31:24

GabriellaG54 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:30:52
