Last year, I was given a pot of homemade chutney made mainly from aubergines. Mild spices in it. I think it was a South African speciality.

Anyone got a recipe?

I wonder if it would go with curry in the same way as Mango chutney does?

There's something similar in Indian cuisine. You can have it with rice and chicken curry , or as an accompaniment/ dip with chappathi or Nan.

Aubergine pickle is a type of indian chutney that goes well with Asian dishes, cheese and ham

I also made Mary Berry's Christmas Chutney one yea that has aubergines, tomatoes and peppers. It was very popular with almost everything ham, cheese, sausages and burgers etc - however if you want a mild flavour you might want to reduce the cayenne pepper chilli powder

Off to search for curry leaves and tamarind paste. - bbcgoodfood recipe!

Found out it is called Brinjal

This looks a good recipe - easier to find ingredients for me.
