I love good coffee, use either stove top thingy or cafetière, but I am so fed up with buying umpteen different brands all promising fabulous flavour, depth etc., but delivering nothing.
My all time favourite is Blue Mountain, but can’t get hold of that for love nor money, do you use one that you absolutely love, or even really like?.
My fave instant is Aldi Columbian but their ground stuff notso much, any recommendations would be gratefully accepted, thanks?

I spent a few years living in Italy and really got in to coffee, after being an ardent tea drinker.
After trying most on offer, I now stick to Lavazza ( red packet) and buy it in bulk from Amazon. I love it because it’s strong but never bitter.

I got myself a tassimo and I buy Costa coffee pods and that is nice

Whittards sell blue mountain coffee

I was given a dole gusto machine last Christmas and feel ashamed that it isn't used. I hate the taste of the Nescafe coffee pods that go with it and haven't been able to find a good alternative. Any suggestions welcome!

We love Bellarom Italian Blend Roast & Ground Coffee, strength no. 5, from Lidl. Haven't found anything to beat it yet.

We have always kept our ground coffee in the freezer. Yes you can use it straight away.
My partner's ex was from the US and she always kept the ground coffee in the freezer, so it's a habit of long standing.

Indeed we keep a jar of instant coffee in the fridge too. ☕️

Waitrose Columbian and Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' Columbian produce a coffee that's jut right. They have a really smooth flavour - Espresso or Americano are too strong and bitter. OH has a fancy machine that makes all sorts of exotica but I have a simple filter machine. Several cups get enjoyed with the newspaper some days!

Try Pumphreys coffee. They're an independent coffee company who roast their own and have a large range of coffee and beans. They're an absolute institution in the North East ☕?

Pact coffee I love it and highly recommend, it's delivered to the door

We buy Aldi and Lidl ground coffee and it's great

Taylors coffee bags, [having one right now] or instant Kenko Rich,i also have a Dolce Gusto, but the pods are quite expensive as i like the capuccino ones so only get 8 cups out of them

Aldi decaf ground coffee is gorgeous and very reasonably priced. It’s in light blue bags. They don’t always stock much though, you usually have to root through the others to find it.

For "everyday" in the Bialetti or coffee machine I use Lavazza. All of them are reliable. Crema e Gusto Dolce is rich but smooth and mellow, Black is intense, Gold is, I think, lively and maybe "fresh". Even the red (which is their every-day one) is very good.
I used to buy Illy coffee but they apparently have no interest in fair trade so I have stopped buying theirs.

If you use a French Press, then Taylor's Italian or Lazy Sunday are both nice.

Hope you find one you like that's affordable - Blue mountain is £££s a pot! No wonder it's a favourite!

Lavazza Al Matine is really good and I drink it black bit you can't buy the beans so I buy Columbian beans from small independent coffee shop for bean to cup machine I treated my dh to for his birthday last year. They do a fab vanilla bean and a nice Amaretto one to. They post if interested.

Why don’t you ditch these machines that require washing up afterwards and get a good capsule machine. The best is Nespresso and if your near a John Lewis or one of their boutique stores you can try the coffees before you buy. A lot of their machines a very reasonable price and the beauty of it is there’s not washing up afterwards. I like very strong coffee without the bitter aftertaste and buy Arpeggio (the purple one) which costs about 35 pence a shot. I challenge anyone to get better capsule coffee than this. If you do buy a Nespresso machine don’t buy the compatible capsules, they’re never as good as the originals. Good luck with your quest for better coffee.

We use a ground coffee called Grumpy Mule. DH bought it at first because he loved the name, but it's good coffee too. And its FairTrade.

I buy beans. 4 x different blends/roasts i.e. French/Continental etc.. (my tastebuds get bored). Keep the beans in the freezer until I want to grind them and use them. My favourite is Arona Valley. From an independent coffee shop not a supermarket.

We have an expresso machine so we buy the pods from nespresso. I do like Taylor’s coffee bags for quick cup.

I love a good cup of coffee . Moving back from abroad i just couldn't find one . So my daughter bought me a dulce gusto machine , you just pop in the pod and hay presto a great cup of coffee . I wouldn't be without now .

Hellsbelles Sat 28-Sept-19 09:35:31

Have you thought about buying your own beans, and grinding daily ?

polnan Sat 28-Sept-19 09:25:45

Hilarybee Sat 28-Sept-19 09:24:58
