Thanks Gonegirl It's on the list for tomorrow when I've been to pick up the onions, which I've had the devil's own job finding them ! Oh well, tissues at the ready

Nico97. Put onions in a bowl of tepid water and peel under the water, no tears (I make dozens of jars each year this way) .

Reading this made me think when we were young we sometimes had pickled onion sandwiches. Nothing else in them, just the pickled onions. Hope we didn’t breathe over anyone!

Peel them under the extractor fan (on full suck) if you have one or wear goggles!

Mmmm - I could just eat a pickled onion!
