Companies that have treated us well during lockdown - Deliveries

Our bin men have been superb and still really cheerful. Our postmen are exemplary and he even took letters that I needed posting to save me going out. All the delivery drivers have been great. The small Spars seem to have been very good. Even though I have had difficulty getting a slot Tesco have reimbursed half of what I have paid for a plan and stopped my plan for the time being but giving me free delivery.x

Lidl in Harrow only store I have seen hand sanitizer being provided at the entrance,with hand wipes.
I was very impressed

Our fishmonger who has a stall on the market, closed now of course, has started doing a very popular weekly delivery round, and our local health food shop is also doing free deliveries.

I really can't complain about Sainsburys. It does take several days of practically continuous logging on but I have got a slot after about 4 days each time and their drivers have been prompt, quick and efficient and polite. There have always been a few things missing but that is to be expected. I have often had better items than I have ordered such as a large pizza for the price of a small one.
Given the circumstances, I would accept any substitutes even if it was something I didn't want given the problems they are having to deal with and the fact that some people are having trouble getting deliveries at all.
I hope that what I have ordered now will last me to the end. My freezer is not very big but is full.
I was just talking to my neighbour about how nervous she feels doing her shopping. I don't want to go out but also don't want to take delivery slots if I can avoid it.
I haven't really had much dealing with any other company. Royal Mail are still delivering so far as I know but I feel sorry for the people in the sorting offices as they were saying that there is no way for them to social distance with the way they work. They must be very short staffed.

I will certainly be continuing to use the places that have treated their long term exisiting customers well.

Sainsburys delivering to Rothbury Northumberland have been marvellous ! Metro Bank wonderful ! Got straight through all problems solved!
On my black list is Barclays ( 2 hrs no answer) EDF for hiking up my DD £25 in midst of crisis , and Boris for making all the wrong decisions.

Apart from the doctors, nurses and carers at my mum's care home I have many businesses I am thankful for.
I get a Sainsbury slot every week as I seem to be on their list as a shielding person. I am not on anybody else's list.
Boots for processing and delivering our medicines efficiently.
Riverford Organic vegetables who deliver free once a week and More Milk.
The artisan bread shop in our town who deliver bread products twice weekly and our local garden centre who is delivering compost and plants etc free.
Our local vet who is always available and caring.
The bin men who come regularly and are also coming for the garden waste next week.
The postmen, delivery drivers, my handyman and many many more who go above and beyond.

Our postman, he’s a lovely chap and been doing it for years so knows all the rounds. During this crisis he is obviously covering other rounds as the poor chap hasn’t been getting to us till twenty past five in the evening, he must be exhausted well done posties everywhere

I think i read somewhere ocado were not going to be delivering at all during this??( thats the posh for you!) when the going gets tough.... specsavers deserve a shout,when my daughter couldn't get to store for her new glasses,(hubby had op&she can't drive)they brought them to her!

Maybe its not all binmens fault then,maybe theres less of them to go round? but the assisted bins should be first to be emptied though.

We used to go Butlins regular for a number of years(since my older kids were little) now i take grandkids too,but we were due to go at beginning of april,i asked if could cancel back in beginning of march they kept fobbing me off with"we have had no coronavirus cases so are still open"- till someone started online petition(which i signed) to shut them down! They agreed(eventually) to refund but all customers are still waiting for it!! Also,same with their sister companies,(all are warner leisure) haven too,id booked a small break with them for october this year ( but more expensive,as nicer accomodation) had to lose deposit on that,but no still not been paid back!! WONT be choosing them again!

Bin men do always look well covered up anyway,and always have thick gloves on,some do even have masks even before this,all to protect them from dust/dirt.the recycle men are in general much better than usual bin men.

My Optometrist, Cottam & Glaister on the Fylde Coast, has delivered my contact lens solutions & stressed that if any problems arise I should contact him. So fortunate to have this reassurance.

We need to thank all our postmen,and couriers,keeping us going,by bringing stuff we cant get out for.And the bus drivers too are risking their lives,and it scares me as one of my sons changed from his 'safe' job to his dream of being a bus driver about 18 mths ago! Also my daughter,who'se in retail,and her colleagues who have been put on supermarket shelf filling as theres less for them to do in other shop outlet.

I will nominate our area refuse collectors who have very little protection and although they tried to take management on about 3 in a cab, covid 19 rules no more than 2?? they failed so just have to carry on. I Feel really sorry for them potentially spreading virus to their own families

Asda have been very good,sainsburys a bit behind,but TESCO,i will not be giving you custom when we're back to normal as everytime you look on there theres NO availability at all,ever! Not been for weeks!also,my binmen,as im on assisted emptying,who,despite having a big yellow sticker to show them this,have missed mine yet again,(general rubbish) even though recycle collectors last week had no problem! (the yellow sticker is useless if they dont walk up far enough to see it!)

Our village shop (Cononley Village Shop near Skipton) has been amazing!
Fresh artisan bread every day, wholefoods, bakery and butchery, organic eggs, yoghurt and home delivery too!!
They deserve a medal!!

Our bin men having been driving their own cars behind the lorry as they cant get in the cab together. I think that is going above and beyond.

Not theNHS per se. So much needs to change there. Our GP is completely hopeless.
Supermarket workers have kept the nation functioning, as have the delivery drivers

I agree about Ocado absolutely no slots available and I had just renewed a smart pass after free 3 months. I shan’t be renewing and will ask for a refund. On the other hand Sainsbury’s have had slots if you’re on line at the right time and Iceland don’t just do frozen goods so worth a look. My milkman has delivered most things I’ve wanted including some compost! I agree we need to support local shops which seem to be helping the local community more than ever.

My milkman and the bin men have been great and not let us down at all. Postal delivery is erratic, it's kind of every other day. I think they might be saving it up. Amazon deliveries have been fast and I don't even have Prime.

Annoyed with Waitrose and Ocado as can't get a delivery slot at all now. Not too bad near the beginning. I think this is quite regional as supermarkets supply from the store. Ocado from a central warehouse so they should have more slots!

Getting a slot with the big supermarkets has been impossible but local companies have been amazing. We have had deliveries from the butchers, fishmongers and even the local Brewery. The best service has been from our Milkman and a company that supplies the catering industry and lost most of their trade but home deliveries have been so successful, they are considering continuing the service. Their fruit and vegetables are top quality and we will definitely be using the service. We won't be forgetting who was there when we needed them!

I bought a delivery pass for Asda, Sainsburies wouldnt sell me one, but I only seem to get half the things i ask for from Asda. I discovered Asda in our area put up new slots about 10pm at night. You take your chance!! My daughters are the ones that deserve medals!!

All the delivery companies have been fantastic. Our local community has set up an Alliance of all the local shops and arranged deliveries including emergency parcels. The local pharmacy is managing so much better than the chain ones. Lots of the pubs and takeaway places have set up new services whilst the usual delivering takeaways seems to have shut up shop.

Our huge Poundland was the first in town to wash basket handles, first to sort out social distancing in queues (including when things go wrong on self-serve) and the first to monitor number of people in store, 4 weeks ago. Some stores still aren't doing these things. Frankly it's been tough on their staff, as it's hard work and some customers are very rude - but some customer rudeness seems be the same story in most shops.
Waitrose trolleys couldn't be cleaner if they went through a car wash! Haven't seen the same industry with their baskets though.
Obviously I've no idea if this attention to cleanliness is the same in all their stores, or it's down to individual managers
