What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.
We rarely eat red meat so we are having sirloin steak with vegetables and garlic bread. We have an M&S salted caramel cheesecake in the freezer so will have that for dessert and a glass or two of Merlot for DH and rose for me as red wine disagrees with me.
It would normally be a family roast today, but as we are a deux, it will be chicken curry with all the trimmings. I hope I haven’t overdone the chillis! DH likes curry to blow his head off, but I don’t! If there is room for a pudding, it will probably be a nice cooling yoghurt.
I have made a lovely steak pie for today with sausages in it too, yum! We shall have that along with mashed potato, carrots and sprouts. That will be followed by a chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake with ice cream. All washed down with a nice glass of red. - Can't wait! Hope you all have a good New Year - stay safe.
How many on here have a pudding most days? Except for e.g. Christmas pud we usually only have them if guests are coming, though I might make one now and then. I’ve made a couple of Eve’s puddings when we’ve had a lot of apples. I’m not so bothered but dh would eat one every day if it was there - probably two helpings! - so he prefers not to be tempted on a daily basis.
Roast duck in a plum sauce, parmentier potatoes, mix of veg prepped by DH. Another family here having the M and S roulade with added raspberries and brandy cream. With a nice glass of Merlot. Finished off with a Xmas choc.
We still have Christmas pudding and brandy butter so I don’t need to make one. ? I’ve already cracked open the fizz and orange juice, so ?and Happy New Year everybody!
Steak here too, sirloin, with mushrooms, peas and home made chips, followed by a home made apple crumble and cream and a couple of glasses of champagne. We will eat about 7pm and then listen to music and read or watch a film.
