What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.

I've made a carrot cake for afters.... with cream grin

Might follow it with really delicious Sainsbury’s individual caramel cheesecakes though. Obviously in plural because hubby will have one! I could easily eat two though?

Meatballs.....again?

Found an M and S special seafood platter for half price and nabbed it. (They are usually very expensive). We will share it with homemade bread and a glass (bottle) of Cava. Perfect Friday fare.

Two poached eggs on toast. ???

Onion bahjis, veg samosas, bombay potatoes, DHs special curry and basmati rice.
So much nicer than a takeaway we've discovered. Who knew ??

Chinese Take-Away this evening (under normal circumstances we always go out to eat on a Friday, sometimes on our own, sometimes a variation of AC and GC) .

Roast chicken at 7pm and it is weekend so a glass or two of wine!

Yesterday was fish day so we had king prawns in shells cooked in garlic butter with Mediterranean vegetables.

Delicious!

Cauliflower, chickpea, and spinach balti.

Veggie day today.

Tonight it will be Fish and Chips. Not from the shop (though we do like those), but I’ll cook cod in breadcrumbs and oven chips, garden peas and bread and butter.

Tonight we had a mega ‘dustbin’ soup (my mother’s term for a whatever-you-have). In it went onions, celery, red lentils, carrot, swede, turnip, celeriac, and some left over mashed potato and parsley sauce. Plus chopped leek and cabbage for the last few minutes.
With some grated cheese on top.
I’m lucky that dh loves this sort of thing.

biba70 I’m retired, but normally p/t voluntary work, DH works full time in a physical job and rarely eats all day, maybe a packet of crisps. We eat about 7, I have reflux too and need to eat before about 8:30 max.. so us ‘retired’ people have some variance ?

Another having baked salmon, ours with sugar snap peas, broccoli and sauté potatoes.
We generally eat about 7 pm.

Can't do main meal at lunch time, I still work a few days a week!

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Nov-20 19:48:31

Dinner between 6pm and 7pm but we are beginning to eat our main meal at between 1 and 2pm as we are finding it better for our digestive systems, that’s if I get my act together.

kittylester Wed 11-Nov-20 19:35:17

Dinner at 6.30 or 7.00 during the week. And Saturday. Sunday we eat about 2pm.

Beauregard Wed 11-Nov-20 18:13:26

Main meal 6 pm, even on Sundays, after all the days jobs/activities are done. I wouldn't feel like doing much in the afternoon if we ate our biggest meal at lunch time.

Witzend Wed 11-Nov-20 18:10:35

Chicken, leek and mushroom pie, with lots of mash on top.

Not very much chicken, though - some cooked chicken out of the freezer, so it’s more of a mushroom, leek and chicken pie.

phoenix Wed 11-Nov-20 18:01:50

Aim to have supper around 6.30, sometimes though it can nearer 7pm blush

MamaCaz Wed 11-Nov-20 17:51:09

Neither - tea at about 6pm grin

Puzzler61 Wed 11-Nov-20 17:48:15

We eat main meal 6 - 6.30 pm.

Eviebeanz Wed 11-Nov-20 17:46:45

Chicken casserole

NannyJan53 Wed 11-Nov-20 17:45:47

We have our main meal of the day at around 6.30 to 7pm.

Tonight it is baked salmon, with new potatoes, carrots, brocolli, and parsley sauce. I never have a dessert in the week, but partner often does, tonight he will have what is left of the blackberry and apple crumble with ice-cream

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Nov-20 17:42:58

We eat between 7 - 8 pm most nights, if we are on holiday it moves to 8 - 9 pm.

It just doesn’t feel right eating our main meal during the day, the only exception would be a family BBQ, even then the adults would tend to eat around 6ish.
