Out of curiosity, what is your favourite comfort food?

Rosalyn69 Tue 09-Jun-20 14:43:20

Ice cream.

Could somebody tell me what clapshot is, please? I have never heard of it.

I also love bars not boxes of chocolate but with a lovely cup of coffee and preferably watching something decent on TV. I also adore a box of Maltesers- totally yummy.

If it had to be something savoury it would be two boiled eggs with chips. I am not a fan of milk.

I'm with the cadburys fruit and nut chocolate comment. my favourite treat!
when poorly as a small child my mother gave me bread and milk!

Ealdemodor Tue 09-Jun-20 13:18:35

If pushed, then it’s toast and Marmite.
But, maybe I’m odd, but I don’t really get this comfort food thing.
My comfort items are tv and books. If I’m having a duff day, it’s the thought of getting back into a good book, or looking forward to a favourite tv show that keeps me going.

Cheese on toast - smear of mustard, strong cheddar and dash of Lea & Perrins.

I've had this twice in the last week - no wonder I've put on 4lbs over Lockdown, eating so much bread and pasta which I usually avoid.

What I’m going to make for lunch today.
Grated Cheshire cheese sprinkled over milk on a Pyrex plate, a rasher of bacon at the side, topped with sliced onions & a sprinkling of mustard on the top.
Grilled for 10 minutes& served with white bread?.

Is this a local dish jane or your own invention? grin

Fish finger sandwich with white sliced bread, ketchup and vinegar, followed with Macaroni pudding.

Perfect unlumpy mashed potatoes - you've got to be able to taste the salt and butter, with grated cheese and a soft-boiled egg with the yolk all runny.

I’m sorry, but your bread and milk favourite sounds like something I would only eat if I were desperate!

B9exchange another vote for raspberry brioche bread & butter pud!
Cumberlands sausages, mash and country ale chutney. Cut sausages into bite size pieces, then eat the meal with just a fork. Comforting and lazy.

Box of maltesers!

Froglady Tue 09-Jun-20 10:19:01

Toast and Lurpak and marmite (the marmite has to be spread very thickly otherwise there's no point in having it!)

timetogo2016 Tue 09-Jun-20 10:18:42

Cheese on toast/cheese toastie very well done.

Esspee Tue 09-Jun-20 10:17:27

Homemade soup with real bread and butter
Rice pudding
Real custard with any kind of cake (sticky toffee, apple tart etc.)
Cottage pie
Macaroni pie with a crispy topping (Caribbean style)

Just realised the common denominator - all calorie dense ?

B9exchange Tue 09-Jun-20 10:15:37

Raspberry bread and butter pudding made with brioche.

Chocolate sponge putting with chocolate sauce made with real chocolate.

MawB Tue 09-Jun-20 10:11:01

Heinz Tomato Soup with hot toast and lots of butter.
If too hot for soup, pitta bread stuffed with thinly sliced cucumber and taramasalata.

Nannylovesshopping Tue 09-Jun-20 10:09:14
