Festive buys ?

Serious question, what will you all do in the rest of October, all of November, and most of December ?

Order placed with farmer for turkey, pigs in blankets goose fat etc.

Waitrose slot booked.

Christmas cake ordered, as well as chocolates also ordered.

Wine order not yet in but won’t need so much this year because no socialising.

Who’d have thought a year ago? Stuff of science fiction!

Rosiebee we have a Christmas cupboard too, in fact our granddaughter mentioned it on Sunday. She was concerned as we’re having a new kitchen soon as to where it would be!
Assured here there will be a temporary a Christmas box.

Before we got married, DH was living with his teenager son. Money was tight on the run up to the big day and they had a Christmas cupboard. He bought all the little treats bit by bit and I remember him shouting to his son, not to go into the C cupboard. We've been married nearly 30 years now and money isn't an issue but each year when treats are bought I still say that's for the C C even though we don't have one, but he knows what I mean. Don't think I can risk buying C chocs at the moment, they'd not even make it to the mythical cupboard.

I buy Haribos in case anyone comes trick or treating.

I really dislike Haribos so I'm not tempted to eat them, not like Christmas chocolates.

I have laid in the supplies to make the Christmas cake but daren't get anything else yet my diet resolve is poor and I would succumb.

I made the Christmas cake in August. I have a few Christmas cards and crackers bought in the sale last year. That’s it, I hope John Lewis do that tin of Quality Street thing again! I think we had two tins last year of our favourites.

We went shopping yesterday, and two boxes of Turkish Delight found their way into our basket.

(But I have been good and put them away immediately)

I have been known to hide Christmas chocolates so successfully that they’re not rediscovered until mid February, when they’re pounced on with great joy.

I agree about the turkey, Monica. Lots of ours always goes in the freezer, in meal-sized packets, and the last bits invariably go in a stew with loads of veg and stock from the carcass.

“You can’t have that it’s for Christmas” got said a lot in this house ??

Ordered the turkey, a good big one. How much does it matter if the turkey is more than you need for Christmas, chop it up freeze it, make stock with the carcase, freeze it. We didn't finish last year's turkey until nearly Easter.

Mini packs of Smarties here for Halloween - I always hope there’ll be plenty left for me anyway!

Can’t buy any Christmas chocs yet - we’d only eat them. Though as per another thread I found something for dh’s stocking today - huge £10 bag of mixed nuts in Waitrose. He’s a nut addict - I swear he was a squirrel in a previous life.

My type of Lady DiscoGran definitely need to get or priorities right. However doubt that the prosecco would last until Christmas. Cheers!

And I picked up some christmas cross stitch kits from one of our local charity shops that I'm going to make into cards.
Will no doubt buy our usual Christmas port from Marks closer to the time!

You see, that's why I don't buy the sweets and chocolates too early because I would break into them. More difficult to have a sneaky glass of bubbles. DiscoGrandad would hear the Cork popping for a start.

You're right Maw, we'll probably have drunk those before October is out.
