One of my very favourite cakes. Always buy them, and eat them too quickly. Only once have i had a home made one in the station cafe at Goathland W.Yorkshire. I couldn’t resist and it was wonderful. Sorry can’t help with the question, but just seeing it has brought a big smile to my face. Thankyou.
Who cares what colour it is, it looks delicious. I love them. I had an aunt who used to make them for us along with her marzipan fruits at Christmas-time. All presented in a box.
Sadly not a baker, opened the thread because battenberg is my all time favourite cake and hoped to be offered a slice. Pink/green, don’t care, yum yum.
I have since red the food colouring bottle and it says not for cooking as it will discolour.! I love marzipan and it was a trial not to eat it whilst making it!
Making a battenberg cake today. The sponge that had the RED food dye came out GREEN. Tastes fine but anyone know why it’s dull green not pink.
Earlier this year I bought some pink food colouring from Aldi to colour bath bombs; got the stuff out today to make bath bombs and the pink food colouring ................ had discoloured and tinted the bombs brown! Buy cheap, buy twice?
