I made cheese and potato pie and we had it with red cabbage.

Well, we were going to have lamb chops, spring greens/ pointy cabbage or savoy, with carrots and mashed potatoes, and minty gravy.

But since DH went shopping, (to save me going), we are now having the chops with potato salad, lettuce, tomatoes etc.

Since when did an iceberg lettuce, substitute for cabbage?

Jaxjacky Fri 09-Apr-21 13:03:02

As DH dislikes any fish not in batter, different meals tonight. I’m having smoked haddock, veg and a jacket, he’s having pseudo kfc and chips.

Ooh, those sound very nice, EllanVannin - I have to go to M&S soon to collect an order, might collect some of those, too.

Since it went down very well the other day, we’re going to have bacon (just one lean rasher each) egg, mushrooms (since I need to use some up) fried tomatoes (ditto) plus bubble and squeak cakes, which I’m making now.

EllanVannin Fri 09-Apr-21 10:02:35

I'm going to sample one of M&S's concoctions today, a cod fish cake mixed with potato and mushy peas, so I'll be doing chips with it. 2 in a pack but they're quite thick and heavy so one at a time. I got them last week to freeze, among other stuff.

Burgers from the farm shop, on sourdough buns, topped with chillis and cheese. Haven’t had a burger for ages, don’t like the ‘fast food’ versions.

Shandy57 Thu 08-Apr-21 17:29:36

Quorn spag bol with lots of cheese on top, and choc ice cream for pud if I've got room!

We went out for lunch with friends so just had avocado on toast. Which, I have to admit, was seriously boring. Followed it with a couple of small left over Easter eggs. Not my best effort.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 06-Apr-21 11:46:14

Today I’m using up the leftover lamb in a stir fry. Fruit after.

GrannyRose we have had several takeaway roasts in lockdown and we love them. They are from a local restaurant we kept meaning to try previously. If this quality is anything to go by we will be there ASAP ? .
Incidentally I have been trying to get a Sunday lunch to my dad but without success in his area. Recently lost my mum after he’d cared for her at home for 5 years and thought he could do with someone treating him. All I could find was fast food type menus where he lives.

Had a really nice take-away roast dinner from the local pub yesterday. Just read a mumsnet post questioning why anyone would want to do such a thing.grin grin grin

Just had quiche for tea tonight.
