No, not asking for myself, but a common question on our local Facebook page that has been appearing since Boxing Day.

Not sure how some managed to get through Christmas Day without the local chippy, Chinese, Indian, Pizza Place, whatever.

As for using up the leftovers…..

We don’t have access to a delivered take away, occasionally will travel for fish and chips but usually have to sap in the microwave to reheat ?

I find takeaway food very hit and miss. There have been many angry posts on neighbourhood sites about them. Some takeaways are a ridiculous price and when you get the food, it never seems to be hot. They also seem to fill the dish up with chips.

Some takeaways must have been open last night. We found a large chocolate cake/biscuit type thing, a milkshake and a pot of cream on our
doorstep. Obviously delivered to the wrong house and left in the rain.

I am having a take away tonight. We have a brilliant Indian takeaway. They were just absolutely excellent during lockdown. I like to support them but it's not much of an effort as they make great food grin

I'm the family joke in that I've never in my long life had a home delivery meal. Also it was only recently that I managed a takeaway fish'n'chips as I was taught eating on the street was simply 'ugh'. Can't say I'm comfortable with it yet but one occasion was really fun. Guilty pleasure in maturity!

We see the takeaway deliveries at our younger neighbours houses on a regular basis, one family seems to get a delivery most evenings, two of them are obese.

It’s a bad and expensive habit

When we had a young family a take away was a monthly treat, as we lived in such a remote location it had to be collected.

I have a rule that no food comes into the house until the Xmas left overs are eaten.
We have enjoyed ham and leek pie, coronation turkey etc.
Today I am going to buy some fresh veg and flour to make more bread.

Didn't we have a thread abut someone inviting friends/relations round for Christmas day and intending to get the meak from the local Indian Takeaway?

So some take-aways are clearly open all over Christmas.

I am a bit like Kim, only I have once, ordered a takeaway. It was my birthday and we had planned to go to a local very nice Indian restaurant, but my father was very unwell and the day before the birthday I suggested he came and stayed with us, as he was very unwell and on the day was too ill to go out for a meal, so we ordered a takeaway and ate together at home.

He loved curry and it was the last he ever had, because the following day he was blued and twoed to hospital and never came out.

We just prefer to go out and eat in a restaurant. No washing up and clearing away, and no smells in the house.

Deliveries have been a lifeline for many restaurants, and their customers, during Covid.

What surprises me is seeing Deliveroo riders outside McDonalds.

Who am I to complain - it keeps people in employment but for some reason doesn't seem quite right!

Yes we deliberately used the local restaurant takeaway services during the lockdown.

Do you know I never thought of meals collected from local restaurants during lockdown as 'takeaways'

Takeaways to me are food from Indian and Chinese restaurants, Pizzas and all those chicken takeaway shops you see shops lining the streets of any town.

During lockdown we did order a number of meals from our favourite local restaurants, but they were usually 'click and collect' rather than home delivery and reverted to restaurant service when lockdown ended.
