The loaf of bread was bb and not use by. Unless it was covered in mould you used your loaf! Tinned items keep almost for ever. Well done in eliminating waste. Lots of companies are looking at bb dates now - I think It’s Morrison’s with milk. Just use our nose, eyes, taste and common sense.

We eat a lot of OLIO food.

Also my 92 year old mum gives us loads of really, really, really out of date dried food and tins. (To protect herself)

We never have any ill effects and help to save the planet through no food waste.

As a result, we manage to save money and take our children and grandchildren on self catering holidays with us, which we love! smile

And because we are paying for the holiday home, they provide all the meals !!!! grin

Your b&b pud sounds delicious smile

I use out of date eggs after doing a test on them. Always ok. So just test to see.

Glad you enjoyed it and are still here to tell the tale. Personally anything made with wet bread leaves me cold. To each their own.

I used a tin of custard that was 5 years out of date the other day. Tasted fine and I’m still alive!

Sounds luscious. Glad you enjoyed it.

Title slightly misleading. Have just polished off a rather large slice of a bread and butter pud I made yesterday. I used bread from a reduced Tesco bloomer loaf, BB date of 27th January, and a tin of condensed milk 2 years out of date. DH said at tea last night it was a bit ‘stodgy’, but managed to eat seconds.

Well, all gone now, no ill effects from the dates, it was de-licious.

Am sure some will come on to say they would have chucked the ingredients, but not me.
