Not my three, they all cook from scratch. Even make their own pizza, complete with own base. And they all have busy, demanding jobs.

I agree with you - I'm constantly amazed at the 'rubbish' that I see in other people's trolleys. I do occasionally buy ready mashed veg but wouldn't if I was strapped for cash. Even though prices are rising, things like potatoes, carrots, swede, rice and pasta are cheap and filling - if you prepare and cook them yourself! Of course, some people have limited cooking facilities or have to be careful about their gas and electricity usage, which can make a difference.

Maybe they don't have access to a cooker but only have a microwave?

Our dreadful local paper sent one of its journalists to Aldi to see if as a mother of two children with a husband she could do a weekly shop for £60.
This till receipt showed she had purchased, ready mashed potato and carrot and swede there was also grated cheese ,microwave rice pouches and antibacterial surface wipes.

It never ceases to amaze me what rubbish people will put in their trolleys, the generation that are banging on about climate change and saving the oceans buying anti bac wipes and plastic containers of mashed veg!

Too lazy to peel, grate and mash.

AIBU?
