Shop bought quiche

After opinions regarding using shop bought quiche please.
We are having some friends over for a drink for my birthday and husband is insisting that I won’t be doing anything towards the food other than advising him! Want to keep it very simple and only do finger food and thought small slices of quiche might be nice. Question is has anyone bought quiche and sliced it before heating it up?

Another vote here for Morrisons cheese & onion quiche! It's really tasty.
"Life's too short to stuff a mushroom" is one of my favourite quotes. Used to love Shirley Conran's books back in the day as well.

Superb. Great food with minimum work. I hope you had a very Happy Birthday nandad and enjoyed your celebration with friends ? ? ? ?

Thank you every one for your replies. Just to report back, bought the Morison’s ones, (no M&S near us) cut into slices and then heated them. People said they tasted nice, DH did sprinkle some herbs, pepper and paprika over them first.
They didn’t leak or collapse either.

TillyTrotter chopped herbs, you are so right. Always add to shop bought stuff, it helps enormously. Who’s bothered whether you’ve spent ages slaving over a hot stove or not, it’s the company that counts.
I hate home made mince pies for instance and always prefer M&S ones.

M&S do a 'selection box' of Quiche - already cut into portions, can't remember if it is 8 or 9 portions. Cost is £5. Quiche Lorraine, Leek and Mushroom, Cheese and Onion.

I usually get them from M and S. I bake them in the oven and allow to cool before slicing. I think they’re much nicer that way.

I find lidl quiches with a green salad always go well at my suppers.Their potato salad to accompany is a favourite.

You could chop a little fresh dill and sprinkle on top to give it a home made look ……. ?

A friend makes wonderful quiches which are just the best - but favourite shop bought is Scottish salmon and broccoli - M&S. if you like fish of course.

I must admit I tend to find supermarket quiches a bit on the bland side, so I do tend to make my own. I prefer the 'crustless' ones - which usually just have the pastry on the bottom - but most of them never seem to hit the mark flavour-wise. Higgedy ones are quite nice, but very expensive unless they're on offer.

I find some a bit 'wet'. I make my own crustless ones usually, unless I'm in a rush.

Thorners are absolutely delicious.

They could easily be homemade, they even have a slightly rustic look.
Very large. £6 from Ocado.

My 1st choice too.
I also get these from Ocado

Quite like M&S they do one that is different slices all around used them for family gatherings.

I agree about the pastry. I just like a thin crispy crust. Our local shop has fabulous ones made by a local lady. Delicious ham and mustard or goats cheese and onion marmalade ones - both with a crisp cheesy crust. So yummy! Mouth watering just thinking about them. smile

Co-op ones are good. Not as good as home-made but good.

I'm told the award-winning Cook quiche is the best - but it has to be defrosted and oven cooked (might as well, though, if you prefer it warm). My family don't like mini quiches, though - too much pastry and not enough filling.

Elaine it was Shirley Conran

Another vote here for Morrison's quiche. They do a wonderful cheese and onion one in a plain-ish brown box . Very generous and delicious but inexpensive - could even pass it off as homemade it's so lovely.

We have it cold for picnics in the summer.

The vegan Higgedy one is really good.

The M&S crustless one, cheese and ham. Actually it does have pastry on the bottom. Just gorgeous!

Sorry googled it and it was a mushroom (worse)!!! Was "Superwoman - life is too short to stuff a mushroom".

ElaineI Fri 11-Feb-22 18:52:43

We sometimes have buffets but I usually heat the quiches then slice. Do the same with pizza. Shop bought is fine for that though if we have it as a meal I would make it from scratch.Usually have a mix of meaty ones and vegan as son's partner is vegan. Also use shop mini sausage rolls. I remember being given a book when I was newly married called "Life is too short to stuff a tomato" (think it was a tomato) so avoid complex things for buffets. Nowadays the grandchildren decimate it first usually ?

I find bought quiches, especially supermarket, M&S variety inremittingly dull and tasteless. thankfully out local aker does quiches that are tasty as does the local farm shop.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 10-Feb-22 20:30:15

I like M&S quiches too especially the salmon and broccoli.
