My friend bought one a while ago and has been singing its praises ever since. I was put off getting one as I already have an Instant Pot, which does everything the Ninja does except for air frying.

I liked the idea of an air fryer though, and the impending rise in fuel costs pushed me towards getting one. I am looking forward to getting to know what it can do, and plan to have chips tomorrow.

Thanks, MiniMoon.

I've bookmarked it, and will have a good look through in the morning. I can see this being a learning curve.

Definitely a learning curve! I did a lot of research before buying an air fryer! I decided to buy a Ninja as it had excellent reviews and appeared to have a good coating making it easy to clean. I already had a slow cooker and soup maker so really only wanted the air fry option although I plan to try baking some cakes in it. I have a policy of “ buy cheap, buy twice” so once I’d worked out the saving in electricity using air fryer over my electric oven, I was happy to pay the extra to get a top brand.

I’m at the stage of experimenting on what I can cook in it and have not actually used my oven for several weeks! I’ll be trying to make a cake and some muffins this week, I am a keen baker so really want to see what I can create.

I spend hours looking on Pinterest at the recipes!

Good ideas, ladies - thanks.

I'm still keen to use the butter (it has added spring onions, herbs and spices) and the baked potatoes though. I suppose I could try a rescue mission first, and if it fails move to Plan B.

I didn't get the one with the meat probe as I rarely cook meat, but I'll be sure to check that any joint I do cook is cooked through - thanks for the tip.

I bought one from Amazon, it’s very simple to use, just switch it on, stick it into the meat and wait for it to reach temperature.

Doodledog, have a look at the salted pepper.com. She is an Anerican lady and has loads of interesting recipes on her YouTube channel.
Here's a link to the article she published about using the foodi. I found it very useful.

Chop your small potatoes into small pieces, spray lightly with oil, season then put in preheated air fryer on top of the crisper tray for ten minutes, shake them around and cook for another few minutes until done. Serve immediately to keep crispy.

You need to get to know your AF as timings for door items are only approximate, they can vary depending on if it’s a basket type, has shelves or a raised grill etc. I have a Ninja Max, like your but a single, bigger basket and it cooks faster than many recipes. When cooking meat, you should use a meat probe to make sure it is cooked thoroughly as the outside can look crispy and brown but the inside might be under cooked.

I'd give up on the Ninja for now and fry the potato rissoles in a bit of oil, putting in oven to keep warm.
Good luck!

I have people coming round in an hour and a half, and I've said I will provide food.

I took delivery of a Ninja Foodi 14 in 1 this afternoon, and like an idiot decided to use it to bake potatoes for the first time. I found a recipe and pressure cooked them with no trouble (you air fry them next to crisp up the skins) but when I opened the lid the skins have burst beyond help. I have made Moroccan spiced butter, which I was going to mash into them then put back into the skins before air frying, but this is definitely no longer an option.

So. Undaunted (?), I have decided to make rissoles with them, by pressing ahead with the mashing then shaping them into patties. But then what? Should I put them in the crisping basket thing, and if so, do I put them on a plate or straight into the pot? Is this a terrible idea?

I have made chicken and ham pies, cajun lentils, salad and garlic bread which is a bit of an odd spread, but I deviated from the plan when the Foodi arrived, so I think I need the potatoes. I have some more spuds that I could draft in, but I took all the large ones out of the bag, so the remaining ones are small and wonky shaped.

Any suggestions would be welcome please - I have an hour or so before I need to run round with a hoover and pretend I don't live in a sty. (I also have a cooker and a microwave if necessary).

Thanks in advance for any help.
