Electric frying pan

I'm wondering how it would be different to using a frying pan on the hob? Do normal frying pans go in the oven?

Never heard of one.

I've just bought a Remoska which is a small portable oven with the plug in heat in the lid (so like an upside down electric frypan in the way it cooks) in the hope it will be cheaper to run than other methods of cooking- and give an alternative if we run out of Calor gas for our hob ( as happens most winters despite ordering well in advance of the recommended time). The pan can go in the oven ( without the heated lid) if needs be.
It does seem to be cheaper to run (it takes 1/4 the power the oven needs- and in this hot weather doesn't heat the room!) but I am still getting used to it. I haven't yet used it as a frypan - more as a hotpot, oven or grill.
Are electric frying pans the same as air fryers?

My mother had an electric frying pan for years and was a great enthusiast. We have a table top Halogen oven which makes toasts, grills, cooks casseroles, chicken, cakes etc. We use it every day, there is no “warm up” time, and is very easy to clean - large Pyrex type bowl. It cooks slightly quicker than a cooker, but I haven’t particularly noticed if it less expensive to use, thoughI would imagine it is.

I have an electric frying pan from my time living in New Zealand, no idea where it is now but it certainly gave good results. You could brown meat then braise it giving very tender results. Rather like a slow cooker but not as well insulated.

Yes - I’ve an electric frying pan from my DM’s house. Never used it, but I might give it a go.

Heavy frying pans with metal handles are fine in the oven - tv chefs do it all the time - brown on the job, then cook in the oven, but it can’t be economical these days, just to heat up the oven for a couple of chicken breast.

I had an electric wok for many years. It got plenty of use, but eventually failed. I replaced with a wok for my induction hob. I don't know how cost effective it was though.
