Your experience of air fryers please.

I’ve had one for a few years now and do use it but probably not as much as I could do. To be honest I could do without it because it takes up space.

So long as you have room to leave it out all the time it will save you money! I love mine and can count on one hand the number of times I have used my ‘proper’ oven since last March. It’s not an air fryer….it’s a mini oven.

Can I reassure you that the Ninja airfrier is not a gadget. It is an oven. It can do much of what a conventional oven does, but quicker and at a lower cost. I've had mine since April, 2022 and have not used my conventional oven since. My daughter bought hers after seeing mine in action. We both are delighted with them.

I have a very small basic one which is fine for just the two of us. It is useful for chips and jacket potatoes and things like sausages, but I still need my ordinary oven. Mine only cost around £20. No need to spend loads more.

We have a Ninja 9 1. It was about £200. It's an air fryer/pressure cooker. It's the best thing we ever bought. We've had it about 2 months and use it every day. We've only had the oven on once since we've had it and that was on Boxing Day when we had people over. Like Aldom our daughter bought one after seeing ours.
We have cooked bacon, sausages, potatoes, chips (very crispy), veg, pies - all sorts. I have done boiled eggs, made scones and soup in it.

My husband - a real Mr Gadget - desires an air fryer. Having done his research, he’s decided on a Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone AF400. I should add that he’s cooking at the moment whilst I’m recovering from ankle surgery, hence his burgeoned interest.
He is waitlisted for one at £180 in Argos’s sale. It’s not the cost but the potential of another gadget sat around that concerns me.
Any comment?

I have a mini Instant Pot Vortex, as I'm on my own, and I cook anything that will fit. As an alternative to the Ninja, Instant Pot make a dual-zone fryer ("Versazone")which can be used as 2 separate baskets or combined into one for large items. I have a Ninja AF 100, about the smallest they do. I thought I’d try a small one to see if I liked it first, and I do, a lot. I’m going to get the one you mention in a few months and give mine to one of my children. I don’t fancy the great big 15 in 1 type ones as I have a slow cooker and still use the range cooker for some things, and don’t want to over complicate things. For our way of life it really suits us, we often eat different things at different times, my DH eats a lot of veggie burgers and sausages, and oven chips and it’s great for that. I like proper chips and bacon, sausages etc. I’ve also done Yorkshire puddings quite successfully, roasted veg, fish fingers etc. and our lecky usage has gone down a lot. At other times we use the hob or slow cooker. I think you’ll really enjoy your air fryer!

Just bought one from Lidl yesterday. Not too impressed. I think I prefer my halogen oven. I can cook a whole roast chicken dinner in that. Or just toast bread 🤷‍♀️

My issue is that I cook quite well conventionally. I have had an electric pressure cooker for some time, excellent for pushing maximum flavour out of any meat. At least he’ll have to work it out himself until I’m back in action.

Had mine for several months now and love it but admit there is a lot of trial and error at the beginning.
I visited a friend yesterday who had bought one in the sale and isn’t really a convert.
I realised early on that the word fryer is so misleading, it is a small fan oven.
If I followed recipes written for an air fryer everything would be over cooked .
Timings and temperatures need overhauling.
I start pulling the drawer out after half the time I have estimated and work forward by minutes.
I wouldn’t like to be without it.
I haven’t had a meter reading since I bought it, that may be interesting or maybe disappointing.

I do like my Ninja. If you treat it as two very quick ovens it works well. Do more jacket potatoes (microwaving for 10 minutes first) and pre bake baguettes too. I did find there were no really good basic recipe books for AFs . Trial and error plus recipes on the internet seems to be the best way for me. Did roast carrots and parsnips tossed in olive oil and rosemary on Christmas Day and they were great.

I bought a Pro Breeze, made in this country and not in China. I have not used my main oven for over a year and now use it as a cupboard.

I live on my own and cooked perfect fish, and French fries with a small corn on the cob.

My Christmas lunch of duck legs and trimmings was to die for.
If it states to cook in the oven for 40 minutes, I would cook for 18 minutes but keep a beady eye on it and to date, that method has worked.

Food tastes great, it's quick and easy to clean.
It will only save money on quick meals. If you would fill your oven it's just as economical to do that than to cook several items one after another in the air fryer.

That's a really good pri ce for the Ninja dual zone. We bought DD one for Christmas last year. She loves it! So do the grandchildren, they can make chips and chicken nuggets themselves. I have a Ninja grill which also does air frying. I use it at least 3 times a week just for that purpose.

I've got a Pro Breeze and mine has Made in China on the sticker on the bottom.

I had a Tower one as a Christmas present I m trying to work my way around the timings, little of what I cook seems to be in their little booklet.
I will work my own times out and hopefully get used to it, my daughter has the same one and loves it so I do think it’s a bit of trial and error to start with.

Cosori 5.5l arrived as a late Christmas gift on 27/12. So far have cooked bacon and tomatoes, boiled eggs, a whole chicken, roast vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and a lemon cake. I suppose we’ll get round to eating all of it soon ;) As stated above it is very easy to clean, economical, time saving and the food is very tasty! We had a much smaller one (from Aldi) and that was very good but I was restricted in what I could cook because of size. This is now being passed on to a family member as their first air fryer. Happy cooking to the chef!

Sounds as though you have the one we bought BlueBelle.
I find the shelves very useful and have done a rotisserie chicken. Very good.
I am using mine as a conventional oven, but working out the timings as I go.
Someone on here posted a table of temperatures for ovens and air fryers. I screen shot it, and printed it out, but can't remember who it was, sorry. No doubt someone else will remember and point you in the right direction.

On another thread, I have recommended watching the You Tube videos by the Butlers, using the Ninja AF400, plus a Cosori .
Perhaps an acquired taste, but very useful. Lots of hints and tips to be had.

We have a cheaper Lakeland 2 drawer air fryer and use it all the time. So much cheaper than the oven!

I think we`ve got a Tefal. My partner loves it, so my cooking duties are much reduced thank goodness. I`ve no idea how to use it. We got into a tussle that we didn`t realise was an almost fight to get the last ones in the shop!
