Slow cookers

Morphy Richards ones with metal inners you can put on the hob to start off soup and casseroles.
Use for slow cooked joints like pulled pork and lamb, steamed puddings as well.

I got mine from a charity shop and love it. The stews made in it taste wonderful. Soften onion, add meat, add veg, a bit of stock, lid on. High for 4 hrs or low for 6. Delicious !

Mine was £20 from Asda. Fantastic piece of kit. I do have a Ninja foodi, which amongst many other features includes a slow cooker but I won’t be getting rid of my slow cooker. It’s one of the best gadgets I own.

One of the best things I ever bought. Has 3 settings, low, medium, high. Use it for various dishes, wouldn’t be without it.

I love my slow cooker and cook joints of meat, stews etc in it. I’ve discovered liners that can be put in which save the scrubbing of the crockpot after use. These liners are great for lifting out any remaining food which can be cooled and frozen for another time.

I’m just about to prepare a pork and veg casserole in mine. It’s guaranteed to come out tender and delicious. I’ve had mine for at least 20 years and probably use it once every couple of weeks.

I got rid of mine - not organised enough to use it

Going to do a bacon joint cooked in cola in it today. They are really useful

I have two, a smaller one and a large, both Murphy Richards, I use one of them 2/3 times a week. From whole gammon or chicken to bolognese sauce I’ve been using a slow cooker for at least forty years.

I was given mine 40 years ago as a wedding present. It’s still brilliant. I make casseroles and soup in it

I use Crockpot have done for years it’s a kitchen must have. Our DD bought me a recipe book for electric slow cookers including dessert's which is really good.
I always sit my Crockpot on a thick board on top of the kitchen unit as it can get rather hot.

Dried beans, pre soaked and then slow cooked with herbs a pork rasher or two bit of seasoning Bobs your uncle. Delicious! I love a bean stew.

My Ninja Foodi has a slow cooker function, but I still use my old Von Chef one, which I bought years ago very cheaply. I slow cooked a beef joint in it just yesterday and it was melt in the mouth tender.

My slow cooker is 40 years old.... and still works like a dream... I bulk shop and then bulk cook. Yesterday I prepped all the veg and left a curry on low overnight.. cheap cut of meat... this morning I have browned off meat and veg and have a beef casserole cooking as I type. This afternoon I will be putting chicken broth on til bedtime.
Everything gets portioned up then into the freezer. I do this once a month with different recipes so I always have a good variety to choose from. I also have a meal to produce for unexpected visitors.
I find the cheapest cuts give the best flavour, use 'wonky' veg and don't have to stand over pots.
My slow cooker is the best investment I ever made!

Can’t remember how long I’ve had mine - supermarket own brand, but it’s great for cooking brisket, short ribs, chicken casseroles; gammon shanks with vegetables and lentils make a wonderful tasty soup. Very economical to run. Set it and forget it. I keep mine in a cupboard until I need it. Don’t be tempted to buy one with a divided liner. They’re a waste of time IMO.

I'm on my second and use it quite a lot. Just cooking a leek suet pudding to have with steak and mushrooms this afternoon. I have a Morphy Richards one with the metal lining which is good but the non stick started to come off quite early. We use it all year round - comes in very handy when the weather is hot and you don't want more heat in the kitchen but want to cook. In Winter we make our porridge overnight in it ready for when we get up.

I swear by mine. Not so much for stews, because I don't eat a lot of stews, but for things like porridge – I use proper pinhead oatmeal rather than instant rolled oats so it needs time but at bedtime I put some in a bowl with some salt and water, mix it up and put it in the slow cooker on low overnight. Result: beautiful creamy porridge as soon as I roll out of bed. All that's needed is a handful of blueberries and a sliced banana.

Also brilliant for rice pudding and joints of meat slowly festered for up to 24 hours so they stay juicy rather than drying out. Oh, and steamed puddings.
