Does anyone know where I can get the old fashioned dried fruit salad that you soak overnight?
I have tried my local supermarkets but can only find the soft dried fruit and all separate fruits not mixed.
Amazon have one but again they are soft and ready to eat.
I have developed a craving for this with thick yoghurt!

Delia has a lovely recipe for what she calls a Christmas fruit compote, but you could leave out the spices. IIRC it’s sundry dried fruits inc. prunes, figs and apricots simmered for a short while in orange juice.

I’ve used it as an alternative to Christmas pudding, but also as a breakfast offering - very popular.

I regularly visit them in Northampton have done for years - ever since we moved up here 35+ years ago. Principled people with excellent products.

Aldi has dried figs and prunes and those red berry thingos that are good for your bladder, cranberries I think.

Thank you all. I have dried apricots, prunes, raisins and figs. They are all soft ready to eat but will experiment simmering them in orange juice. Tesco had dried apple but are out of stock at the moment.

Oooh!..I'd forgotten about dried fruit salad, Mazgg. I was introduced to it by my landlady when I was studying in Bristol in 1986 - Lovely, hot - slightly Christmassy - or cold! I must check our local (Orkney!) shop to see if they still stock it. Hope you find some for yourself too!

Lidl used to keep it - I assume they still will.
