I boil two eggs, halve them, cover them with cheese sauce and then mashed potato. I then top it with sliced tomatoes and heat through in the oven. My mum used to make it as it is also very frugal.

That sounds lovely!

Many years ago when I was pregnant (the baby is now 52) I had an upset stomach and when I was feeling better my mother-in-law made me fish in parsley sauce, mash potato and peas. To this day nothing has ever tasted better! smile

Fish pie. I could eat it seven days a week. And ham hock and lentil soup.

Bread and butter pudding and rice pudding as well - but not together!

My mum's scotch broth. I have never been able to replicate the flavour.

Yesterday's wet weather was depressing so I used a freebie Bramley apple to make a huge apple dumpling in a toffee sauce. It cheered me up no end!

Tomato soup first choice or bacon and cheese sandwich and if they’re not available I’ll settle for a fish finger sandwich smothered in salad cream 😊

Shepherds pie and banana and custard for me.
Hope you continue to recover from your surgery.

I’ve just had an operation (all is fine) but I have been fancying rice pudding and fish pie.
For me real comfort food especially rice pudding.

What do others turn to?
