I've made Dorset apple cake with our own Bramleys, delicious.

Another vote here for coffee and walnut. Back in the day we didn't really drink coffee but Mum always had Camp coffee in the cupboard and used it for the butter icing as well and then decorated it with walnut halves. I noticed recently that they have now have it in Dobbies cafe and treated myself and a friend with my birthday voucher. It was very tasty and brought back memories.

I think that jam pennies made with really good bread e.g. mine, good butter and homemade jam e.g. mine, would be wonderful. Her Maj had excellent taste.
Having said that, chocolate cupcakes with coffee icing would be pretty nice too.

I absolutely love cakes and puddings and will eat most of them happily.

My favourite cake is a Devon split. a bread bun filled with lots of sweet, fake cream and a blob of jam on top!

I like most cake but try not to eat it often.
A good Victoria sponge with just raspberry jam in the middle has to be the best, though.

DH will keep buying bananas and I only like them greenish so there are two banana and fruit cakes in the oven at the moment (again).

They are other recipes on the net .

I loved it as a child .

My mother used to buy it if we had guests .
My grandma used to be appalled at the cost !

Lemon Drizzle or coffee without walnuts for me. I would far rather these than anything chocolatey.

Fruit cake or lemon cake would be my first choice closely followed by just about every cake mentioned!
Just can't beat a nice cake, coffee and a good natter.

Witzend, the apple cake is quite a large quantity. I usually use half or 3/4 of the mixture. The full quantity would probably fit a 10 X 8 inch roasting tray for a tray bake, or possibly an 8inch cake tin for a deep cake. I have used a bought foil 12 X 8 tray, useful for sending back to Uni with GCs to share.
All a bit vague so probably not much use! I make the mixture then decide on the tin!
