How about your husband cooks the roast dinner he is so keen on during the hot weather?

Sometimes it’s too hot for a bbq , the poor person who has to do it gets roasted themselves🥵
I only do a gravy type meal in cold weather.
When it’s hot, cold things are best.Tonight we had cold chicken bought as a whole roast chicken from Mr Tesco, new potatoes left to be only slightly warm for eating, a mixed salad and a cold quiche.
Tomorrow I’ll do cold sliced roast beef ( packet) with a baked potato, a Greek salad and coleslaw.

Perhaps barbecue well-marinated beef or pork, crisp roasty potatoes (cooked with the meat - after cutting, boiling, shaking).

Horseradish sauce, lovely gravy made with marinade, vegtables, green salad, fruit. (Very little kitchen work, apart from washing up).

We barbecued last Sunday and probably will this Sunday. We invite our sons and families to come. I do lots of salads and Mr M does the actual barbecue. I usually bake a cake or make flapjacks and we make a big bowl of mixed berries. If the weather isn’t good, we’ll do pretty much the same indoors, except we either roast a chicken or do some fresh salmon, so perhaps you could try some of those things.

We're enjoying Indian Spiced Roast Chicken with mint raita and wraps at the moment. www.fabfood4all.co.uk/indian-spiced-roast-chicken-with-coriander-mint-raita/

Maybe eat out on a Sunday then you can both have what you like.

How about salmon with new potatoes and green beans? Make lots of bechemel sauce (available in packets for any good supermarket, but add extra butter for that premium taste)

Salmon Wellington: wrap individual salmon steaks in flaky pastry and bake. Serve with roast potatoes and veg - and bechemel sauce (as above)

Large lamb chop, browned under the grill and cooked on top of a bed of mixed vegetables, in the oven or a slow cooker, plenty of meat and you can always make extra gravy (stir in some mint sauce)

A good job I live on my own because I never make gravy. I only want a teaspoonful or less and it is not worth it. I cannot remember the last time I had a roast. If I go out for lunch it is usually fish.

Ours also want a roast. DGD always got moaned at for taking too much gravy so one year at Christmas, DH bought her, her own gravy boat. She said it was her best ever present. I know where she gets it from.

My grandchildren are with us this weekend, they've already put in their order for a Sunday roast, so roast dinner it is, otherwise if it were just us I do something lighter.

I would suggest that in hot weather, to stop the kitchen getting too hot, he cooks something for you both on a barbecue.

Well, we have just ourselves a ninja barbecue and are loving it. Makes life incredibly easy and relaxed.

So I’m not suggesting you buy a barbecue😄😄 but grilled meats are the way to go in hot weather I think together with say flatbreads, or rice or pasta and Mediterranean type veg.

DH, love him, is a gravy man basically. I'm trying to wean him off Sunday Roasts in the summer but I think I've made a rod for my own back as I always do a full roast even though mostly it's just the two of us. Recent poor weather has made me give in and do gravy dinners. Last week though we had a roast chicken with lots of different salads. I could live off salad. Looks like it's going to be very warm tomorrow. ANY suggestions appreciated.
