It's All Gone Wrong!

After many years I got the bread maker out, my OH used to use it but I didn't have time to get interested in it at the time. Anyway, I made a loaf yesterday with the help of OH to set the controls and the loaf turned out very well.
This evening I thought I would have a go at the Elogran recipe from the Gransnet recipes. The bread maker was loaded but I couldn't get it to start. OH had gone to bed so I didn't wake him. Then I thought to myself there's only one thing for it, I will have to do it by hand. So I tipped it all out and kneaded it. I am waiting now with a timer for the one hour to arrive to take the next step. I read the instructions to the bread maker but I couldn't get it to start. Oh well, I hope it turns out alright but it wasn't my intention to make hard work of it.

Could you not get help from utube as to how to get it to work?

NannyPT, it needn't be hard work. You could have put it safely in the fridge overnight for a slow prove. That's a good way to get great results. When I discovered that, I have my bread maker away.

Didn't think to look on YouTube. The thing is though I actually switched it on last night with OH watching me which is why I thought I would be ok tonight. I didn't realise I could have put it in the fridge for a slow prove, I always thought it had to be somewhere warm, but that's very useful to know.

My new car got covered in dried on sap. I was in despair, thought I’d ruined it. Good old google told me to cover it in fabric conditioner which I did at one o’clock in the morning and it worked. In a crisis google is your friend!

The problem was I hadn't pushed the bread basket down firm enough. However, the bread turned out fab and I was very pleased with it. The only problem we have now is keeping away from it, it's so yummy!
