We used paper plates and a washing up bowl filled from our hot and cold outdoor tap for cutlery etc. We did have a few take aways.
Our lovely neighbour made us some hot meals when she realised we had no kitchen.
Moving soon and hoping to use my air fryer, microwave and slow cooker too as we will be having a new kitchen.
And there’s always our daughter’s house just round the corner when we have moved.
Looking forward to extra tips.

Same as everyone else. Cook meals, take aways, pub meals …the time soon goes by and you’ll have a beautiful new kitchen.

We had ten days of this in November 2020 in semi lockdown, microwave was our friend with ready meals from a couple of local restaurants who were doing takeaway meals only, restaurants all closed. It wasn’t fun, but we managed, including not using the kitchen/diner and cloakroom until after the men went home every evening, bleaching down all handles/taps/toilet and sink.
If the weather carries on being good bbq might be an option.
Good luck, it’ll be worth it.

Oh lawks! This is happening to me in three weeks time and I really haven't thought it through! The laundry room is going to have to be the temp kitchen - there is a Belfast sink in there and a couple of sockets. I have most gadgets, so we won't starve but I do like the idea of paper plates, as I won't be able to use the D/W. Anything else that anyone can think of?

I was so stressed by all the work and unforeseen hitches, that DH and I just ate out every night. We even tried our local MacDonalds for a change of scene - we were desperate!

Just be aware lots of ready meals may need veg or a side of some sort. You need to consider what washing up facilities you have and where your microwave/air fryer is going to be.

My kitchen took almost 5 weeks - there's always some sort of problem!

I stocked up with disposable plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery - they were an absolute godsend. Ate straight out of container for takeaways and ready meals.

M0nica

Ready meals from the supermarket or Cook.

It is only a few days, so what the hell!

That would be my solution as well, with the odd take away. Healthy, non cook options at Breakfast.

I’d be popping into Waitrose or M&S for some of their yummy ready meals xx

What cooking facilities will you have while the kitchen is being fitted?

We're having a new kitchen fitted soon and it's going to take a few days to complete.

I'm hoping for some ideas for meals I can cook easily in the slow cooker, air fryer or microwave, please. I enjoy cooking and will also be batch cooking for the freezer.

It's highly likely we'll exist on salad and toast but there are always times a nice meal is welcome.

Thanks 🙂
