Stewed with lots of sugar. Mine don't come off the stone. Very tart.
With cream or ice cream or on your weetabix with milk.

When i was a child we had 4 damson trees so always had a lot of damson food. Sadly, they are getting as rare as hens teeth these days.

damson jam
damson cheese
damson crumble/pie
damson ice cream
damson syrup for ice cream etc
damsons preserved in kilner jars for winter baking

Damson Crumbles are yummy, we have three in the freezer and already have eaten loads!
Damson Chutney and Damson Jam are easy to make loads of recipes online. Good Luck.

Damson ice cream is pretty good, if you make it with pureed fruit, the stones come out after they've been cooked and if you use the condensed milk + double cream method, there's no worries about ice crystals forming so it's really easy.

I don't drink, but do make gin for Christmas presents. It's dead easy. If you use frozen damsons there's no need to prick the skins

I'm going to make gin. I picked loads too and did try stewing them. They were delicious but very small and I worried about the stones and my teeth!!! Gin I think will not be a problem....

I wasn't sure whether the damsons should be cooked with or without the stones. I opted to remove the stones before and was pleased that I had done so. They came away easily by cutting around the flesh, twisting apart and picking out the stone.
I don't drink alcohol so gin no good for me!

I have discovered a damson tree on public land and couldn't resist picking loads. The cooked fruit has a wonderful rich colour! I have done jam, fool and cobbler. Any other ideas would be welcome.
