I’ve had a Prestige pressure cooker for many years but apart from cooking veg, gammon and the occasional stew I don’t use it. I’ve been looking for more recipes online but everywhere seems to be for multi cookers or onepots. Has anyone got any recipe ideas for me please. Thanks in advance.

I have a recipe book for Prestige Pressure Cookers. For soups, vegetables, vegetable risotto, spiced vegetable casserole, celery and ham braise, potato dauphinois, ratatouille, vegetable chop suey, butter bean bake, hummous, seafood casserole, fish mornay, lemon plaice, orange stuffed herrings with potatoes and chives, roast chicken, lemon chicken, hearty chicken casserole, tropical chicken, quick chicken and mushroom pie, hunters chicken etc.

Any of these meals sound any good?

I well remember my Mum’s PPC wobbling and hissing on the hob!

I’ve just Googled and you can download the Prestige recipe book free of charge.

Thank you wintersday and Georgesgran. The recipe books that came with the 2 cookers I’ve had over the years didn’t really have many recipes in them. I obviously need to Google a bit more and see if I can find some better ones. wintersday, your book sounds ideal, did it come with the pressure cooker? Maybe I’ll check Amazon. Thanks again for replying, sorry wasn’t sure how to reply individually.

Oh wow this brought back memories! I used to cook all sorts in my pressure cooker but can't remember any particular recipes as I think I made them up mostly, and now I can't remember why I stopped using it.

I was terrified of my mother's old stovetop pressure cooker. I was always convinced it was going to blow up! However, I now have a Ninja Foodi which has a pressure cook function and love it - it's great being able to make things like stews, risottos, sops etc in a fraction of the time they take to cook conventionally.

I have used a pressure cooker over most of the last 50+ years, mostly for soups and stews. Here is a recipe you maynot have tried.1 pint full cream milk warmed with 2 tablespoons of sugar. 3 large eggs beaten in a heatproof bowl with a few drops of vanilla extract to taste. Whisk in the warmed milk. Grate nutmeg over the surface and cover with a greaseproofpaper 'hat' into the pressurecookerbasket ,bring up to pressureand cook for 6 minutes. Allow to cool inthe cooker without releasing the pressure, then chill. A lovely alternative to cream or ice cream with bananas or soft fruit.

My Granny had one, scared the life out of me, looked as if it was going to blow up! I’ve never used one, can’t quite get over the memory.

I only use mine now when I am canning food, as I have a Ninja Foodie. I absolutely love that it anyone is on the fence about investing in one, I totally recommend.

Search 'pressure cooker cook books. A pot come up. many are second hand, but what difference does that make?

My lovely neighbour Vera gave me the recipe book. She had bought a new pressure cooker and hadnt thrown the old one away which needed a few new parts. Vera let me have the old pressure cooker and I bought the parts and I said I would like to give her some money for it if I got on with it but she wouldnt let me. I often chuck in potatoes at the bottom, some veg in the tray and a salmon fillet wrapped in foil and in 6 minutes I have a lovely lunch to eat. There are also recipes for roast chicken, lemon chicken, hearty chicken casserole, tropical chicken, quick chicken and mushroom pie, beef stew, rich beef casserole, lamb curry, irish stew, braised pork chops, bolognaise sauce, beef pot roast, steak & kidney pudding, beef and dumplings, spiced beef with pasta, chilli con carne. There are also desserts, steamed jam pudding, pineapple upside down pudding, golden syrup pudding, christmas pudding, rice pudding, bread and butter pudding. The list is endless. But I must admit I havent been very adventurous with the pressure cooker. The address on the back is Prestige Group UK Plc, P O Box 95, BB11 2AB, England. They might be able to find you a recipe book?

I've got three Pressure cooker recipe books but only used mine for stews or to cook home-made Christmas Puddings in. I need a new seal for my Prestige but it is so old I can't get one. Like a previous responder, let me know what you fancy cooking and I'll see if I can help.
