Or daytime snackers 😃
Just discovered that Sainsburys has a new range of delicious hot cross buns in store, at least six different flavours.
The marmalade ones are lush, so are the apple and cinnamon.

thank goodness...i am safe...don't like hot cross buns...lol

Tescos salted caramel!

DON'T put in toaster, makes a mess!

I put mine in microwave for about 10 seconds. They also freeze really well! Defrost then microwave.

La la la la, Not listening, desperately trying to reduce carb intake and finding it difficult.🤪

I was horrified at the calories, carbs, sysns in a single tiny one - worse than mince pies. These are my 2 favourite foods EVER, and I am allowed neither

No! Not listening!

Me neither.
Not until Good Friday!!

It's my Puritanical streak.

Hang on this is Ash Wednesday! We ought not to indulge in hot cross buns or any other snacks today, at least, or if you want to be old fashioned until Easter Sunday!

Yes, shocking, isn't it 😲

Is wine ok?

I certainly wouldn’t be eating them late at night.

Not exactly healthy is it?

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 16:28:49

It’s too cold and miserable to reduce carbs, wait until June😄

Btw nobody is forcing these Sainsbury hot cross buns on anyone against their will, it was just a heads up about how nice they are. Other snacks are available.😃

sharon103 Wed 18-Feb-26 15:33:05

I love the chocolate ones. Lush.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 15:31:37

very delicious other buns😄 that look exactly like hotcross buns.

missdeke Wed 18-Feb-26 15:26:09

I'm sure they are all delicious, but to me a hot cross cross bun is a bun made with cinnamon and dried fruit. The others are not hot cross buns but delicious other buns.

Peaseblossom Wed 18-Feb-26 15:18:42

When I tried a couple of different flavours, I never liked them as much as the original. The apple (and cinnamon?) ones in M&S were disappointing, but that was a couple of years ago and not had them since.

I'm a terrible late night snacker - don't tempted me !

Ah go on! You know you want one, heavily buttered…

Rosie51 Wed 18-Feb-26 12:14:57

I'm much too lazy to make my own MaizieD (does that sound better than probably too inept) but I stick to the tradition of my youth and buy them freshly baked from a local independent baker. In contrast to my youth these cost an absolute fortune, but are worth every penny. He's French, a sourdough specialist, who's won awards for his croissants.

Another puritan here, Good Friday and a traditional spiced bun with a cross on it.

I don't know why they don't just sell their 'variety' ones all year without a cross. Call them marmalade fruit buns etc etc.

Me too.

I'd love them all year round without a cross on them. The cross is horrible if you try toasting them, it goes very hard and leathery.

I make my own hot cross buns on Good Friday...

TBH I like the good, old fashioned, bog standard ones.

Me too!
Although DH might like the marmalade ones.

Witzend Tue 17-Feb-26 11:25:29

TBH I like the good, old fashioned, bog standard ones.

But like a pp, I often want savoury snacks in the evening. Crackers with cheese and pickle, e.g. , or cheese on toast with onion and Worcester Sauce, 😋.

Doodledog

I love them all, except the white chocolate and lemon ones. I noticed rhubarb ones too, which are on this week's order (arriving Friday). I have one for breakfast at this time of year - I prefer savoury snacks in the evenings.

Rhubarb, I didn’t notice those🤬 I love rhubarb anything.

Oreo Tue 17-Feb-26 08:41:09

Even more delicious with both butter and a lick of marmalade on 🤭
Yes, something had to take the place of my beloved mince pies.
For the Puritans among us, who only eat a hot cross bun if it’s two hours to Easter or only eat ones they made themselves or bought from a little artisan bakery 50 miles away, you are really missing out😁

Fallingstar Tue 17-Feb-26 08:34:09

Ha ha glad you have moved on from the mince pies Oreo.
I love M&S hot cross buns but am now tempted to try Sainsburys. The marmalade ones sound delicious.

Neither am I. I’m low carbing. 😩😩😩

MiniMoon Mon 16-Feb-26 23:42:22

No thank you. I prefer a fruit teacake.
