Cox’s Apples Can’t seem to find any!

Saw them in Morrisons at beginning of week.

As a student I picked CO’s apples for the Co-0p who had a fruit farm near me. That would have been mid September before going back to Uni.

Pink Lady apples are my absolute favourites. Crisp and lemony. Yum!

I’m not a fan of Cox apples but they were the only apples my father would eat - he said you had to hear the pips rattle to know they were ripe! I prefer Braeburns. You rarely see the wonderful Egremont russets these days. We’ve lost so many heritage apples.

Actually grown since 1830 .
I live next to what was once an apple orchrd
Two trees remain .
Perhaps we should all be trying to grow apples .
I feel inspired to grow them .

Cox’s are the only apples I really like, and quite hard to find, even in season.

Just to say I always go to a farm shop in say November and buy a box of Cox and store them, they last us until the new year. They are large beautiful apples.

Coxs are one of the last apples to ripen sufficient for picking. So expect a delicious fully ripened Cox in October - not really before then - although this summer…………

Yes, it's too early. They both keep well in cold-store, but it's a long time since harvest now, they'll be back in september.

Perhaps it's rather early for Cox's apples if they are home-grown.
They should be in the shops mid-September.
