As you say, it’s style over substance 🤬

No, it's not just you. I'd pass a law issuing a solid fine to any professional food provider who serves anything inedible with any meal. As my DH often says, That'd quell the beggars. Ooh, she's harsh! smile

I've just had breakfast in a local farm shop. Insanely expensive, but absolutely delicious. Generous portions, fresh, locally sourced produce, lovely, helpful staff and to die for home made potato rosti. Because of all this, I don't mind paying over the odds now and then.

But I was disappointed to see they've succumbed to the foody trend of leaving the stalks on the grilled tomatoes. They were small cherry tomatoes and well grilled, so however you tried to get rid of the stalks you just finished up with a mushy mess on your plate.

Style over substance IMHO.

I though chef's rule is never put anything on the plate that you can't eat.

Or is it just me?
