Good time to learn I think MaizieD 🙂

If you can read, you can follow a recipe David.

James Martin said the orange pumpkins we carve aren’t good for soup - so that’s my excuse not to use it!

Don't listen to him!

Butternut squash might be slightly better for soup and roasting but pumpkins are easier to cut up.

I fear Halloween, I get pumpkin everything, Soup, Roast, Cake, Curry, you name it, Ive had a week so far, another week at least to endure.

😁

Yes, pumpkin soup with onions, garlic, ginger and a touch of chilli. Some chicken stock and a can of coconut milk.
I roasted the pumpkin in olive oil for ten minutes first.

This year I put a battery-operated tea light inside the pumpkin instead of a real one. It worked well.

My farm shop do a lovely moist pumpkin cake with sultanas and cream sheese topping. It’s absolutely delicious. I must try to get the recipe.

I’ve heard or read that more than once, but since I hate wasting food, I’ve ignored it, and my pumpkin soup always turns out fine. Mind you IMO it always needs a LOT of flavouring/spicing up.

You could make something else David?

But does David cook? 🤔

I cook 3 courses for 6 regularly, 12 is a stretch at Christmas, i didnt realize how easy it was until I needed to. My wife is better but needs to be inspired, currently she is inspired by pumpkin, a jug of soup in the fridge and pumpkin cake in the tin

My pumpkin went mouldy! I have made a pot of lentil soup instead

Coming into the soup season now. - lunch today we had leek and potato. I do a pumpkin and carrot soup so, celery, onion, carrot, Pumpkin, stock etc. and make a smooth soup.

Hmmm sounds lovely. Glad you are spicing it up, I do too, because pumpkin is a bit of a bland vegetable.

Mine is simmering away - red onion, garlic, ginger and red chilli (all lazy paste versions) plus 2 chicken stock cubes. Tomorrow I’ll blitz it in the pan and add coconut milk.
