Here's my post again from Sat December 8th for anyone who's still confused...

"I've found the original thread from when we began playing this game in July 2016 and thought it might be useful to show the 'rules' as they were set out by Indinana when she introduced the game. Hope this clarifies any recent 'queries'!

You can change, add or subtract a letter and reshuffle the letters to make a new word.
You may make up to TWO amendments. For example you can:
a) change two letters
b) add two letters
c) subtract two letters
d) change one letter and subtract one letter
e) change one letter and add one letter"

In fairness the last word was
debarred , but beheaded works from that and bearded

Hi holding, let’s say there’s a 7-letter word. You can drop two of those letters, leaving 5, or add any two, making 9. Or you can just add or subtract one. Yes you are right, those three changes would be one too many. Nice to see you playing, and welcome!

I was trying it on with Baggage with 2 letter changes which is allowed but I was a letter short in my offering

As far as I know, M, you can drop 2, add 2 or change 2. Or a combination of that. That’s how it was when Elegran started it up about 3 years ago.

Help! I'm hopelessly lost now.
Can someone please tell me exactly how many changes are allowed in total? I seem to be under the misapprehension that only TWO changes are permitted in total. Either additions or subtractions or combination of additions or subtractions.
However, I have previously seen three additions to a word, so I haven't a clue now.
