Just opened a small but gleaming new bar in the best part of town, The Alphabet, 1950’s themed bar all polished chrome and plastic, with a juke box and frothy coffee machine.
Drop in when out shopping for a chat and a snifter.?
The bar only has a few house rules, no pj’s to be worn, keep to an alphabetical order and be inventive.Free drinks for the surreal and humorous contributions.?

Really chewy there’s no need to push ? and out put that fireman down, you shouldn’t be using him like that. (if soop finds out you’ve still got one hidden she’ll be really cross) ?‍?

Chewbacca Wed 25-Mar-20 21:35:57

Quite enough of that Doodle, you've been dawdling about in here for long enough. My turn now. shoves out if way with a long pointed pole

Doodle Wed 25-Mar-20 21:32:45

Pretty woman, oh I love Roy Orbison. My turn to be in here dancing. lemon you go put the back with the builders and I’ll ........ no hang .....you can stay here and I’ll go out the back with the builders ?

lemongrove Wed 25-Mar-20 12:58:20

Oh, I just fancied having a few muscle bound builders around the place, so am having an extension built to hold all the expensive new gins for the bar.?
Orbison on the juke box again....Pretty Woman ( me, obvs.)

Never mind, we can wait. After all, it's quite fun dancing in and out so that we don't have too many in here at a time. I just wish that someone would put something more cheerful than boring old Wagner - "Tristan and Isolde" must be the worst possible dance tune - on the jukebox, and that it wasn't quite so difficult to get out of the back door and get round the building to the front. What are all those oil drums doing, not to mention the old tractor and the cement mixer?

My reputation for providing wholesome inedible treats to this establishment has been sorely tainted. I shall hasten to my kitchen to rustle up something mind-blowingly scrumptious. It may take me some time.

Chewbacca Tue 24-Mar-20 22:37:33

Looks like there's more than 2 in here, I'd better be off, don't want to get arrested again.

Doodle Tue 24-Mar-20 22:33:56

Keep suspicious thoughts to yourself lemon. I’ve not been anywhere near soop’s goodies. .........? ??

lemongrove Tue 24-Mar-20 17:12:50

Just back for my shift in the bar, where’s all the food gone?!
? Didn’t Soop leave a tray of home baked goodies for us today as she promised, or has it all been sold ( or just eaten without any cash changing hands by the usual suspects!)

lemongrove Tue 24-Mar-20 17:08:51

I thank you Doodle yes, it is me ( modest smile) see, I can still touch my toes!

Doodle Mon 23-Mar-20 14:20:44

Here you are lemon a lovely green woolly onesie (smells a bit eggy but I don’t know why ?) Why are you hiding in the corner when you look very guilty ?
Try it on lemon so we can see what you look like.
Oh my goodness,....it’s not you is it.....yes it is...lemon is the green goddess everyone. ?

soop Mon 23-Mar-20 14:05:26

Goodness, gracious moi! Wheniwasyourage, if I were you, I would add a few cherries to the mix. Psychedelic knitwear is all the rave right now. I've a pair of boots lolling in my wardrobe. Every colour under the sun, and some.

Wheniwasyourage Sun 22-Mar-20 16:51:25

Fill up the glass, lemon! Oh no, I've spilt some egg nog on that bit of knitting that Doodle left here. What is she going to say when she gets back? Maybe if I spill some of that crème de menthe on it too she won't notice. It was a sort of olive green already...

lemongrove Sun 22-Mar-20 16:43:41

Egg nog, whilst we sing along to Englebert?

lemongrove Sun 22-Mar-20 16:43:04

Don’t worry When ....if the customer is staggering, they are a regular.?

lemongrove Sun 22-Mar-20 16:41:55

Could you knit me a spangly woolly ‘all in one’ Doodle in
Fluorescent lime green? Many thanks in advance.

Cliff Richard on the jukebox ‘Summer Holiday’, ah if only!
I am tied to this bar ‘for the duration’ .....anyone join me a snifter??

Doodle Sat 21-Mar-20 13:55:59

Behave yourselves while I’m out. I am running a knit and natter group at Gemini Manor on the Keeping our spirits up thread. I got conned into it really, I thought it was all about who could drink the most alcohol ???. Anyone want to order a scarf ??

Doodle Sat 21-Mar-20 13:51:36

Ah well when you will be able to tell most of the regulars by their peculiar way of walking (staggering from side to side) and their “colourful” choice of clothing or lack of in most cases. ?

soop Sat 21-Mar-20 13:47:24

Zippetydoodah...that is the secret password. Only share with like-minded folk who are not afraid to care and share what that have with the rest of us.

Wheniwasyourage Sat 21-Mar-20 10:46:36

Yes, but we will have to be able to distinguish between low-life idiots panic-buying booze and regulars with their normal behaviour. I don't think I've been coming here for long enough to recognise all the regulars. Or their so-called normal behaviour. Can they be issued with a badge or something, or is there a secret password?

lemongrove Fri 20-Mar-20 21:44:51

Xtra rations for all those who agree to man the bar.....we have special dispensation from the government to stay open all hours, in order to shore up the morale of the nation!?

soop Wed 18-Mar-20 16:31:57

Woe betide anyone who says otherwise, lemongrove.

lemongrove Wed 18-Mar-20 15:38:37

Very true Soop ...I know for a fact that you only drink on two occasions! ....when it’s your birthday, and when it’s not your birthday.?

soop Wed 18-Mar-20 15:13:25

Unlike some of you, I am well disciplined. hmm I only ever embibe between certain hours. Don't ask what they are. I've forgotten.

Doodle Tue 17-Mar-20 22:53:46

Then we can always move to the Dog and Whistle if that happens lemon. I wouldn’t mind betting soop’s been having a quiet slurp every time she comes in. ?
