Good morning all, can you solve this puzzle? I won't post the solution until after 7pm to give everyone a chance to try.

How many triangles are there in this image?

Marydoll Sun 05-Apr-20 11:55:53

Good girl Gilly for initiative, teacher's pet award today.?

However, I'm not ready to confirm yet if that is the correct answer. wink

gillybob Sun 05-Apr-20 12:08:13

hmm than you MissDoll for the teachers pet award but I used to get “shows initiative” quite a lot on my school reports . Which tends to mean “ she tries very hard but is rarely right “ grin

Marydoll Sun 05-Apr-20 12:17:09

Oh Gilly, you are one of my favourite pupils! ⭐

Lisagran Sun 05-Apr-20 12:46:20

It has all the numbers from 1-10?

Lisagran Sun 05-Apr-20 12:47:36

44 triangles

Doodle Sun 05-Apr-20 12:55:52

Wot!! Miss Doll what did I do? It wasn’t me honest.
I’m still here, I just popped out to listen to the Church service on the radio ?
I wrote it out too Miss but I only got 42 ...I think gillybobs cheating and added 2 more just to throw me ( got to go back and count them all again now ?)
Am I one of your favourites too Miss? (Ingratiating smile ?...and an ?)
Going to sit quietly and do the next question now Miss ?

Doodle Sun 05-Apr-20 12:57:05

Hmmm ?. Is it lunchtime yet Miss?

Doodle Sun 05-Apr-20 13:01:59

Nope, sticking to 40 can’t find anymore.

catladyuk Sun 05-Apr-20 13:03:19

@marydoll 'What makes this number unique: 8,549,176,320?'

it is in alphabetical order

Doodle Sun 05-Apr-20 13:07:40

Miss, Miss I know ????ask me Miss.

It contains all the numbers from one to 10 and is in lexicographical order. (i.e. what lisagran and catladyuk said)

Doodle Sun 05-Apr-20 13:09:07

But I said it in proper English. You didn’t know I knew words like that did you Miss wot with me being dyslexic and all. Amazing isn’t it ?

Kalu Sun 05-Apr-20 14:18:11

Oh my eyes ? but I finally reached 44

Pittcity Sun 05-Apr-20 14:32:40

Wot they sed!

Pantglas2 Sun 05-Apr-20 14:41:31

44 - now wearing glasses....

HAZBEEN Sun 05-Apr-20 14:47:17

46 I think!

willa45 Sun 05-Apr-20 15:33:49

Has there been roll call yet? OK....."Here!"

I counted 44 triangles. Now, if this headache goes away, I can have another look.

Number 8,549,176,320 is unique because it includes each number from 0 to 9 listed in alphabetical order according to the first letter of its written name (effnossttz)

Amee Sun 05-Apr-20 15:40:28

Managed 42
But now going for a lie down in a darkened room with flannel over my eyes

Marydoll Sun 05-Apr-20 16:53:34

The Grand Reveal!

Q.1 There are 44 triangles

Q2 It contains each one-digit number, zero through to nine, listed in alphabetical order.

gillybob Sun 05-Apr-20 17:35:26

Yipppeee .

Oh I never got question 2 !

That’s not fair miss I really really didn’t get the homework !

Marydoll Sun 05-Apr-20 17:40:32

Gilly, I posted the question at 11.53am, exactly one minute after you. ?

Callistemon Sun 05-Apr-20 17:43:24

Oh, I just got 52 triangles
Over thinking again.

gillybob Sun 05-Apr-20 17:43:55

Trust me to miss it . I am so enjoying these little teasers . I suppose I could go back and look but I already know the answer which could be classed as cheating ... a bit grin

Callistemon Sun 05-Apr-20 17:46:53

I'm not getting Q2
Must be having an off day
Or the cider I am drinking.

Kalu Sun 05-Apr-20 17:46:55

Phew?

Marydoll Sun 05-Apr-20 18:04:56

Take the initial letter of each number name and you will find that they are in alpha order.
